Got on fine, but it never asked me for my email. Posted a thread but it locked up after posting it. Haven't gone back yet to see if it actually took.

SYM

The old Tank is 7 years old and pushing 18,000 miles so I'm thinking of getting something newer. Boise's only brick and mortar dealer is a SYM dealer along with other models. Looking at the SYM200EVO. Does anyone own or have any reviews on SYM scooters? I'm sure they're like any Chinese scoot: proper maintenance and tender loving care and you can get several years of good riding. One thing I like on the SYMs is the 24 month warranty and it's in my price range (under 4 grand).

you may want to replace your petcock as well if it is dumping feul with the motor off then the setcock is not shutting the flow off as it should Tanks didn't come equipped with petcocks; just vacuum fuel pumps. It's a no brainer that I'll also be replacing that when I change the carb.

Here's the issue: Serviced the old Tank after sitting all winter and got it ready to ride. Rode to my brother's and back with no problem. Went back into the garage a couple of minutes after I got home and fuel was literally pouring out of the 'overflow' tube on the carb. Pinched off the fuel line, removed carb and checked float and needle. Put everything back together, started the motor back up and everything was fine. Started it this morning to ride to work and I no sooner rocked it off the center stand and had the fuel dump issue again. Apparently float/needle issues? 18,000 miles; think maybe it's time for a carb rebuild kit or new carb?

It's just about riding weather here in Idaho. I've got 17,000 miles on the stock tires that came on my 2006 Tank. Lincoln could probably wear a tophat and it still wouldn't touch the tread. My main question is: Where is the best place, best brand and type of tire to buy. My commute is roughly 17 miles each way with an average speed of 45-50 mph.

Mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a couple nice cold beers. The day was really quite beautiful, and the brew facilitated some deep thinking on various topics.
Finally I thought about an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the Nuts?
Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts.
Well, after another beer, and some heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with the answer to that question.
Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby; and here is the reason for my conclusion
A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "it might be nice to have another child."
On the other hand, you will never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts."

Oldputz and myself have nothing but rave reviews for partsforscooters.com. We've always gotten the right part and earlier than anticipated. They are just about the only company we buy from now.

I just flat don't ride if there is a chance of rain. You're right jct842: our old bones don't mend to easy. I'm just looking for a little softer ride and hopefully something that would last two years if possible. Has anyone tried the Michelins?

15k on one set of tires!! Man are those things made of flubber? ;D I believe they used a rather hard blend of rubber. Definitely a rather rough ride. JR which would you consider a softer better tire?

'oldputz' and I both have our Idaho CWP and carry wherever we go. Watch out for us older guys in our sixties. Never know what you may be tangling with.

The 2006 Tank hit 15,000 actual miles (not chinometers) on the way to work this morning. Granted I had to replace the motor/cvt this past spring (and repainted it) but I am still on the original factory tires. Finally hit the wear indicator on them so guess I better put some new ones on this winter. Have had occasional electrical problems due to stupidity and/or other issues. Went through one muffler in two years and ordered another factory one just like the original. When it started making noise a friend of mine that is constantly repacking the mufflers on his sons' dirt bikes repacked both of them and welded patches over where the brackets had pulled loose and rewelded the brackets. I still owe him some beer and have to take some more of his 'on calls' at work but now I have two good mufflers (one being used and one spare). I would say I've definitely gotten my $1495 worth out of the old Tank.

Finally had time to work on the Tank today. Took all of two minutes to fix the problem. Apparently when I replaced the motor I didn't fully seat one of the connector plugs on the hardness. Plugged back to together and 'Voila', headlights work again. While I was at it I taped all connectors just to prevent another issue down the road.

Finally had time to check some of the other posts regarding headlights. Now all I need to do is drive it home this afternoon after work and hope I don't get ran over with no headlights or tail lights.

Five surgeons at a convention from big cities are discussing who are the best patients.
The first surgeon, from New York , says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.."
The second, from Chicago , responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything is color coded." ... The third surgeon, from Dallas, says, "No, I really think librarians are the best, everything's in alphabetical order"
The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: "You know, I like Harley mechanics... Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over."
But the fifth surgeon, from Washington DC, shut them all up when he observed: "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus, the cranium and the rectum are interchangeable. "
