Changed the front brake pads today.
Three days ago I JB Welded a strong tiny magnet in the bottom of the oil drain plug. Did the third and final oil change on the new motor today and found no metal pieces. Only found some deposits on the magnet the consistency of graphite. Should keep my oil super clean if it's stopping stuff small enough to make it through the screen.

I had 15K on mine before the 'gearbox' went out last month.

Do your mirrors have turn signals in them by chance? My 06 Tank Racer 'did'. The wires kept getting pinched and shorting things out so I can disconnected them and never had anymore problems.

This is my 4th forum. I'm smart enough to keep my eye on where JR is.

Don't give up yet. I can't help you because mine isn't water cooled. Just be patient and listen to the great help available from the other members on this forum. It's all a learning experience; one of these days you'll be giving advice to someone with the same problems you have now. HANG IN THERE!!!

I joined the 'pound' June of 06. It got to where people would post one or two words with nothing to do about the original post. They were to concerned about getting their ranking up and worrying about their total number of exalts and smites.

If the tail light works but nothing happens when you apply the brake you probably have a bad tail/brake light bulb. They are the same bulb with a filament for the tail light and one for the brake light.

You were right on the money. I went in this am to give him a hand. The exhaust valve had no clearance at all. Got everything adjusted and we road the Tanks into downtown Boise and wandered around the city market. Oldputz's scoot didn't die on him once the entire trip.

I didn't sand clear down to bare plastic. I sanded the clear coat off with 320 grit and sanded the green with 640 grit to take the shine off. Then wiped it down with a tack cloth and it's as smooth as the factory paint.

My brother's ('oldputz', idnative1948 on previous forums) Tank keeps dying on him. His work these days is keeping him so busy he hardly has time to take a s___ let alone get on the forum. His scoot is exactly the same as mine only one week older. Lately it will die on him when he lets off the throttle to make a turn or come to a stop. Usually starts right back up. May not die at every intersection or the same number of times. Usually happens only after it's warmed up good.
This happened to me in 2007 and per 'Stan' when I was on the 'Dawg' I changed the coil. His theory was the coil was breaking down and occassionally stop providing spark. Never had another problem. I told 'oldputz' he needs a new coil; am I steering him right? Has anyone else had similar issues?

I put 50 miles on it around the neighborhood and town then drained the oil last night. No tiny steel pieces in the drain plug but a thin piece of aluminum about half the size of a dime was between the screen and the drain plug. I'm thinking and hoping it was just a piece of the casting that didn't get removed and flaked off. Going to run it into Boise tomorrow to help the brother work on his scoot then change the oil again when I get home and see if I have anymore surprises.
I have a little magnet about half the size of an eraser on a pencil. It's strong enough to pick up a 5/8 wrench. Thinking of JB welding to in the bottom of my drain plug at the next oil change. I know it won't pick up the aluminum, but it will stop any tiny steel pieces from making it through the screen. Any thoughts?

What kind of paint did you say you used? That looks just like the factory shine. I used Krylon Fusion "rattle cans". Four coats of color then four coats of clearcoat. Added the decals then two more coats of clearcoat. With the Fusion paint if you wait more than four hours in between coats then you need to wait 24hrs. I waited about ten minutes in between then let the base color dry 24hrs before I sprayed the clear.

Jumped the gun and reinstalled the body panels before the paint cured. I used some white cotton gloves to keep from leaving permanent finger prints in the paint: Original factory paint: New paint job; I left the 'trunk' off this time. The green flames are vinyl decals I ordered from eDecals.com.

People are now just planting their gardens here in Idaho. I took a chance and planted my tomatoes and peppers two weeks ago. Actually had to cover them one night to keep the frost from getting them.
JR...Thorny tree with hard berries; are they Russian olive trees (they are thorny as hell)?
