Update..............Changed air filter, installed iridium plug and still had the same problem. Always happened after I filled up in the morning and the afternoon was hotter than normal. Finally took it to my dealer since I still had about 2 months left on my 24 month warranty. Problem was the California emissions s_it installed on it causing it to flood out. Mechanic told me he was surprised I had 4000 miles on it before I had a problem. He said typically the problem would rear its ugly head after about 300 miles. Since I live in Idaho 3 of the 5 California 'emission canisters' are now removed and no more problems. He said that is pretty much standard procedure for them now when they send a new SYM out the door.

It was acting like it wasn't getting enough gas for about 100 ft or so. I could 'nurse' it along with the throttle then it would take right off like nothing was wrong. Same thing would happen at each intersection.

My 2013 SYM RV200 has not gave be an ounce of problems until yesterday coming home from work. The scoot performed fine on the open highway; the problem was when I would stop at a stoplight. When I would give it throttle from a standstill it would barely move and almost die for the first 100 feet or so then I was able to accelerate and go wide open throttle. This happened every time I stopped. Vapor locking, bad gas, sticking float, or something else? I just filled up on the way to work (Shell Premium) and it was in the high 90's on the way home.

When I painted my old Tank I used Krylon Fusion and the paint is still holding up and shiny according to the coworker I sold it to after I bought my new scoot.

It's 51deg today and the snow is finally melting. Trouble is the roads are also wet so no riding for me yet.

I bought a 2013 SYM RV200 this past fall. The smoothness of the ride compared to my previous scooter is amazing. So far it seems to be a quality manufactured scooter and the 2-yrs warranty is almost unheard off.

Like you it'll sit in my garage until it warms up. My bottom limit on this old body is 38 deg in the mornings before I ride. Hopefully some time in March.

Damn I wish it would warm up here in Idaho. The teens and twenties just aren't conducive for scooter riding. I just barely had my SYM broke in when it got to cold to ride here.

I haven't had any issues so far other than the pages load slower than they used to. I was even able to create my own avatar without any problems.

When I first bought my Tank in 2006 the alarm system kept running down my battery so I disabled it per JR's instructions on the forum. My new SYM has a 'kill' switch under the seat that disables everything. The first time I used it I forgot about it when I tried starting it after work and almost ran the battery down before I remembered. I doubt if I'll ever use it again at work but when I stop downtown or at the grocery store it will definitely be used.

Here in the Boise, Idaho area the amount of Ethanol in the gas is 10%. The only stations that don't have Ethanol in the fuel is at the Phillips 66 stations of which there are only two of them in the area. The octane ratings here are 87, 89, and 91. I ran my 2006 Tank on the 89 octane (with the ethanol) for 7 years without problems. Of course I change out the chinese fuel filter and all hoses as soon as I got it.

New Scoot
by: tankrider - Sept 13, 2013 7:08:58 GMT -6
Post by tankrider on Sept 13, 2013 7:08:58 GMT -6
My new scooter arrived at the dealer on Wednesday so I was able to pick it up yesterday after they got it ready. I bought a 2013 SYM RV200. The difference between it and my old Tank is like the difference between night and day. It's got a liquid cooled, ceramic coated cylinder 4-valve motor. Top speed is 72mph and MPG is around 80. Now I don't have to drive to work with my scoot running wide open. It's heavier and a little longer wheelbase than the Tank so the ride is definitely different. And the best thing is the 2 year warranty from Alliance Power Sports. Will post pics tomorrow before I go get some more break-in miles on it.
Since I no longer own or ride a Tank I might have to change my 'name'.

Bit the bullet yesterday. New SYM should be here in about 10 days.
