I am considering painting my Aelous 300. My current paint job has many scratches etc on it. What would be the recommendation of you folks for the best paint to use. I have read several post and seen videos on how to do it with a few paint ideas. A good spray can brand will do. I appreciate your help.

One of the best home and metal use paints is still Krylon, comes in about any color you want and if the surface is properly repaired will stay on for a long time. Automotive paint is good and one can go to a good dealer and most of them have a computer analyzer to closely match your own paint and can color code it. There are no paint codes for scooters so if you can get it checked then you can find lots of companies that with a color code will make the paint you want and put it in a spray can and send it to you .
I did this with a 150 scooter then finished up with a good protective clear coat and IMO it looked better than when new. Krylon also makes a good clear coat.

Thanks JR. I will look at it. Does it have to be acrylic or will just regular enamel be sufficient?. I read somewhere that some folks add a hardener to the paint. I am probably go from red to either Jet black or Burgundy with the latter being my first choice. I got the Burgundy idea from looking at the new Ice Bear Zodiac trike scooters. That burgundy colored one looks awesome.

I'm no paint expert but a good enamel is hard to beat, again talk to some of these auto paint guys and let them look at what you're painting and get their best tips.

When I painted my old Tank I used Krylon Fusion and the paint is still holding up and shiny according to the coworker I sold it to after I bought my new scoot.

I don't know squat about paint, but my two cents' worth is, no paint holds up if you drop the scooter! I've dropped my Roketa a couple times, sanded things down and attempted repairs, not bad but not as good as original. Probably would've been better if I had painted the entire panel, but never have been able to get the same degree of "shine" on my repairs. Good enough, it's more important to me that the stuff UNDER the plastic is working 100%.

Gonna do it before the summer is up. I will post pics as I do it. I have decided to use krylon. I am going to take my time and fix every nick and scratch and prep the plastics as best I can. I'm looking forward to it.

I used both brands it took me 3 weeks and a lot of sanding a little body filler this original color red/silver From my notes Use a good white primer i used 3 coats Total paint used was 12 cans purchase at true vale i did not paint the wheels I used the flex steel rubber sealer in the fender wells Biggest issue i had was the dust all over the garage still finding a year later. For your info spray paint has no hardener on less it is app lance paint which it great on metal work i learned the hard way when i spilled a little on the quarter Take photos before you start the job so you know where the extra clips go Trust your gut on the colors you want to use Take advantage of the time to do your major maittince One thing help let it bake in the sun and do not paint in heavy humanity Check for parts painted there are a lot of them out there i pick up another scooter cheep it had only 300 miles on it and used the front in tires, clips etc...etc.. One last thing do a honest appraisal on your scooter Motor condition, brakes, etc... plus how long you plan to keep it it is easy to run the cost up and deal with a local hardware store or paint shop and the same salesperson when i got a bad can thy may it right. try that at wally word it wont happen. And please forgive my spelling errors my spelling sucks Best of luck and please post photos when your are done. Attachments:
