I paid $1495 in 2006 for my Tank from a brick and mortar dealer.

Since I ride hard also I've been thinking along the lines of a hard breakin. It's 18 miles one way to work and the average speed is 45-60 mph with no more than 3-4 stop signs (lights) in between. Definitely will break it in then change the oil again before I ride it to work.

So what is the general consensus? Hard or soft break-in on a new motor? Change the oil after the first 50 miles? I didn't even start it today until I changed the factory oil.

Had the motor bolted in place and wire connections complete in about 30 min this morning. Drained the chino oil before I even turned it over. It purrs like a well satisfied woman. Still sanding and painting body panels. Curing the paint for a week then wet sanding and several more coats of clear with another 7 days before I assemble. Krylon Fusion is some darn good paint.

Man you may have something there tankrider? 15k! That's got to be a record! What brand are they? JR Heng Shen is the only name on them. My brother bought his Tank about two weeks before I bought mine. He's pushing 20K miles and still on the same stock tires but he finally reached the wear indicators so he's looking now for new tires. Think I'll go with the engine degreaser, let sit for awhile then use a strong solution of hot water and Dawn dish soap and a sponge then hose it off.

I wonder if it's because I only have to turn 5 times in the 18 miles one way to work. I have over 15,000 miles on my 2006 Tank and I am still on the stock factory tires that came on it. I'm not even down to the wear indicator yet.

over &1200? I haven't figured out if you guys are making a big joke of that Ebay seller or if the wrong page got posted here. For that price the motor should include a complete scooter, shipping, and a few hundred dollars change. $379 including shipping. Checked the link again and someone must have fatfingered the Ebay listing because it definitely wasn't the price that it now is showing.

My new motor/cvt arrived today and all I will have to do is bolt it in place, install my carb and rear wheel, connect the wiring which is exactly the same as the old one. Only question: it is covered in what I would call 'gun oil'. Any ideas on the best way to clean? The manifold and cvt breather intake or properly covered. I was thinking of taking it to the car wash. Any thoughts?

Thanks you two; I didn't think of looking on Ebay. Partsfor scooters has them for the same price but are out of stock. While I have it down I think I'm going to repaint the lime green body panels gloss black. Will post pics once I get started.

Last year I replaced the crank and piston on my 150 Tank. Now it sounds like my gear box is going out. I've decided to buy a complete engine/cvt instead of continued repair. I'll save my old for parts or eventually do a high performance modification on it. Over 15,000 actual miles on the old Tank now. Question is: Which is the best source for complete engines? I have a QMJ long case motor.

This week is the first I've ridden the old Tank this year. I'm strictly a warm weather rider unlike my brother. The scoot will be six years old this summer and has around 18,000 actual miles on it now. Of course last year I had to rebuild the engine due to seizing the rod to the crank. Apparently the oil pump lost it's tolerances and was not pumping enough oil. Think I'll change the oil pump about every 5000-8000 miles just to be on the safe side from now on. Taking about 30 minutes to change the oil pump is a lot easier than tearing the entire motor apart.
