The 2006 Tank hit 15,000 actual miles (not chinometers) on the way to work this morning. Granted I had to replace the motor/cvt this past spring (and repainted it) but I am still on the original factory tires. Finally hit the wear indicator on them so guess I better put some new ones on this winter. Have had occasional electrical problems due to stupidity and/or other issues. Went through one muffler in two years and ordered another factory one just like the original. When it started making noise a friend of mine that is constantly repacking the mufflers on his sons' dirt bikes repacked both of them and welded patches over where the brackets had pulled loose and rewelded the brackets. I still owe him some beer and have to take some more of his 'on calls' at work but now I have two good mufflers (one being used and one spare). I would say I've definitely gotten my $1495 worth out of the old Tank.

15k on one set of tires!! Man are those things made of flubber? ;D I believe they used a rather hard blend of rubber. Definitely a rather rough ride. JR which would you consider a softer better tire?

Well I lke the Avons ride really well but I'll tell you up front they won't last 15k. I got a little over 5k on the last rear tire and the front is still fine.
Also losts of people love the Pirellis SL26 but man my wifes back tire needs replacing right now and it's only got 3k on this tire.

My 2 small scooters have pirelli sl26's and the big one has a set of pirelli diablos on it. I am not going for max miles by any means, I am looking for the very best traction on a wet surface I can get. I am 70 and probably will not heal a broken bone should the scooter slide out on a slick surface. You can control where you ride but if while out riding the road gets wet you can't do much about that. If it costs me more tires to wear the scooter out fine but I am not going to take any chances on going down. I will probably get 3k on the 150 rear and thats no big deal, I can change it out in a half hour myself.

I just flat don't ride if there is a chance of rain. You're right jct842: our old bones don't mend to easy. I'm just looking for a little softer ride and hopefully something that would last two years if possible. Has anyone tried the Michelins?
