I don't want to look for trouble since I've been riding trouble free for a good long while now, but I thought I'd throw this one out: My scoot is a Vog 260 with the Linhai clone engine and starts right up when its cold. When I make a stop on a trip and try to restart when the engine is hot, it takes a few presses of the starter for the engine to eventually "roll" to a start (as opposed to the quick instant start when its cold).
From my research I thought it was valves, but I don't seem to have any other valve symptoms. I plan on doing an adjustment anyway next time I have a free day (its been about 5,000 miles since the last one) but I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

I have the vog version of your scoot. love it. I have this book marked for State-specific questions about add-on LEDs. .wykedilluzionz.com/laws/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.wykedilluzionz.com/laws/ I put round marker lights into the left and right side of the front faring, and replaced the two rear red reflectors with 180 degree red LEDs. As for GPS, I put a patch of velcro in the center of the handlebars and a patch on the back of the GPS and just stick it on when I need it. I'm of the opinion that if its attractive it will be stolen, so i don't like the idea of the GPS being visible to anyone when I'm parked. I'm looking forward to seeing your scoot when its up and running!!

I've had great success mending body panels with "weld-on 16," but mine won't stay together if it is a load bearing connection, like a tab or plastic that supports the head of a screw going into the black plastic. All those fail fairly easily but the mended body panels themselves seem to withstand all sorts of shock. I have also used LockTite plastic epoxy for the black plastic with the same results - a good bond as long as it is not a connecting piece.

I agree with JR that we'll need some clarity, but I'll add a few observations that might help with the diagnosis: I have the Vog, and none of the lights should come on just by turning the key. In fact, one way to see if your brake switch is bad (and thus potentially your ignition safety) is to see if the brake lights come on with the key. Mine did once, and I found the brake switch had melted in the open position. One way to test the ignition/brake switch is to try pressing the left brake and see if it starts. Also, have someone help you to see if both brakes will light up the brake lights.
Also, the gauges and the horn are on the same fuse. You should check the fuses as a matter of course. As you know, the fuse box is almost inaccessible but you should give it a try.

Mine is more interesting if I expand it to "this weekend" instead of today. Today I commuted as usual, loving every minute. This weekend I finally finished repairing the breaks in the black body plastic I had from my collision with a deer in September. The ABS cement I used for the broken fairing wouldn't work on the black plastic, and I ended up using Loctite epoxy for plastic and its holding great. I would never have finished if I had to do a plastic weld. A number of fairing attachment points were broken when the screws pulled out of the black plastic at the crash, and I ended up epoxying in black plastic air valve caps that I shaped with my dremel. People don't believe me when I tell them how much i enjoyed it all!!

I did some research on this a while ago and the "easy" method that people recommended was to use compressed air.

I just wanted to add a little more info for other Vog riders (or tbx 260) for future use: A few weeks ago I noticed that the brake lights were lit up but were not getting brighter when I squeezed the brake handle. I thought it was a short somewhere making the brake lights stay on, until I remembered this thread. I wondered if instead of not going on, perhaps they're already on and not going off. I tried starting without pressing in the brake as a test, and sure enough it fired right up. I removed the brake switch (that I replaced in August) and the little clicky switch had melted in the closed (open?) position. I got a new one, and all is now well. So, if you have a Vog, know that the brake lights are only brake lights (1156's), and if they're lit without pressing the brakes, your switch is bad or you have a short. Good to know.

I use lemon pledge on everything, including the windshield. Looks good so far.

Don't know how this will impact your potential need for parts, but I know that Lifan pulled out of the US market earlier this year.
