I don't want to look for trouble since I've been riding trouble free for a good long while now, but I thought I'd throw this one out: My scoot is a Vog 260 with the Linhai clone engine and starts right up when its cold. When I make a stop on a trip and try to restart when the engine is hot, it takes a few presses of the starter for the engine to eventually "roll" to a start (as opposed to the quick instant start when its cold).
From my research I thought it was valves, but I don't seem to have any other valve symptoms. I plan on doing an adjustment anyway next time I have a free day (its been about 5,000 miles since the last one) but I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.
-Mike

They may just be starting to get a little tight and not really so tight that your looseing a lot of compression. The other thing is since it is so hot it may just need a 1/4 turn Leaner on the Fuel Ratio Mixture. Alleyoop

Same with mine, a 260 EFI. I think it's normal? I do notice that every time you turn on the ignition, and turn on the engine cutoff switch (to turn on power) the fuel pump pumps fuel in the lines.. It could be that when just stopped, there's still fuel mixture remnant in the cylinders, and basically the motor gets too high fuel/oxygen ratio those first few motor rotations.
When the engine is off for a while, perhaps the fuel vaporizes somewhat; and for that the startup goes better.
Try starting right ater turning on ignition (not giving fuelpump time to pump fuel in the carb/efi system. That might help.

Well, I figured I'd check the carb first before unbuttoning the scoot, and it turns out I was only out about a half turn. I spent a little time tuning and hot or not it started up easily. I'll still do the valves but problem solved. Thanks boys.

Been meaning to come back with a follow up. Still hard to start when its hot, but once it starts it runs like a dream. I have adjusted the carb, changed the sparkplug, adjusted the valves, and I have to say its running better than ever. Starts right up when cold, runs strong and sounds great. Only thing is when its hot I do a three count on the starter, another three count, and then hold it on for about a five count and it sort of catches and fires up. Again, once its on, its on and purring like a kitten. Any ideas?? Thanks.
