Great info. I checked mine on the Linhai 300. I have Micheline city grip tires. The are rated p. According to the chart they are capable of 94 mph with a max test speed of 140 mph. Yep good info. Thanks.

Yeah the black color would be a great look but I have decided on white. My mind is made up. There are so many possibilities with the white color. Maybe a tutone with blue or red as the other color. I will figure something out.

Best Paint

I don't know squat about paint, but my two cents' worth is, no paint holds up if you drop the scooter! I've dropped my Roketa a couple times, sanded things down and attempted repairs, not bad but not as good as original. Probably would've been better if I had painted the entire panel, but never have been able to get the same degree of "shine" on my repairs. Good enough, it's more important to me that the stuff UNDER the plastic is working 100%. Yep that is the most important thing ellpee. I have decided on white for my color of choice. Gonna do it before the summer is up. I will post pics as I do it. I have decided to use krylon. I am going to take my time and fix every nick and scratch and prep the plastics as best I can. I'm looking forward to it.

Black is cool and also invisible to other drivers. A word to the wise.... Ernie Yeah that worries me a bit. I may go to white or silver instead. I am being lobbied real hard for the black but it is my scoot and doggone it I like the white color. She does have a way of persuasion though lol. Who wants to bet what color it will be. Reckon she will win?.

The Aha! moment at last. Seems like that would give you some oil on the garage floor, but maybe not if it only leaks out when the engine is running at rpm and some pressure pushes oil out of the crankcase. All your oil loss could be on the road. Tell us how things look at your next 1000-mile oil change. Just changed the oil. It was less than 2 ounces down after about 600 miles. The motor is clean with no signs of leaking. It made me happy, happy, happy. Man it amazes me that some problems are fixed with the smallest of effort. I was worried that my motor was bad. Not any more. She's fit as a fiddle. Now I can concentrate on painting the scoot. Gonna go from red to black. At least that was what my girlfriend suggested I should do. She seen a black Burgman and said it was a awesome color. Who am I to argue with her wisdom lol.

Just a follow up. I checked the motor out real good and upon looking under the motor on crankcase side I discovered light black oil build up. I decided to check the bolts that fasten the crankcase. I found some of them loose. I tightened a few of them around 1/4 turn. After that I cleaned the motor real good with a can of spray parts cleaner. I have done a couple of pdi's on this bike but for some reason I never checked those bolts. Hopefully I have fixed my oil use problem. I'm a big ole dummy for not checking those bolts before. I knew it had to be something other than a bad motor. It just runs to dang good. Tip to the wise. When doing a pdi check EVERY bolt. It will pay off in the long run.

saddlebags

Thanks. I can figure it out. Since my scoot is red the saddlebags will blend right in. I am going to have to figure out how to make a quick connect/disconnect way of mounting them. I'm gonna get me some as soon as I can. For that price they will do nicely.

Hey JR, I wonder can those saddle bags be made to fit a 08 Linhai Aelous 300?. I sure do like them.

I imagine JR or somebody will move this to the trike section, but this is pretty much a generic thing. Being too "tentative" on the gas with a heavier scoot can cause the clutch pads to glaze, in which case they try, and fail, to "grab" the inside of the clutch bell, until you finally get the RPM up to where centrifugal force is sufficient. Be a little more gutsy on the gas when you first start up, and when you have reason to open up the CVT, look at the clutch pads. You'll probably see they are at least somewhat glazed, and a little bit of roughening up with coarse sandpaper will fix it. Don't get carried away, just a few firm rubs will do what's needed. (Wow, I've finally hung around here enough to actually know the answer to a question!!!) I wonder if there is a video out there somewhere that shows what a glazed clutch pad looks like and how to scrub them?. Im going to be servicing my belt and rollers soon and would like to know. I too have a jerking at low speed on take off. I can get on the throttle a little harder to neutralize some of it.

Yahoo!. Glad you got it going. I had a similar problem on my Aeolus 300. It turned out to be a bad kickstand switch. Some times the solutions to these bikes problems are found by accident. Each time you learn a little bit more about your bike. Once the problems get ironed out you will find that these Chinese scoots can be dependable and most of all fun as all get out. I love my scoot. Now I don't worry about problems with it. I know it will fire up first try everyday and I can cruise with out worry. The Chinese bikes aren't the only bikes that have problems. The Japanese and Korean scoots have there share of problems as well. The internet has plenty of examples of that. I'm not saying that Chinese bikes are better but once you get things ironed out they are a great inexpensive way to have a BLAST!!!!!.
P.S. Looking forward to your pics of the wire you referenced. It may be something worth learning to some of us.

Thanks ellpee. I check every morning before I fire it up. I think I may pull that other motor I have and put it in there. I know it is good. Then I will tear this one down. I figure I can change the motor out in a few hours. In the mean time I'm gonna scoot with the one I have, It still runs crazy good.

I put about 50 miles on mine yesterday. With clear, warm weather the next few days i expect to put even more on my scoot. I don't get quite the mpg's you do but I am getting around 65. That is good enough. My scoot is a blast to ride and I enjoy every mile of it. I try to ride mine every day. Heck, I believe I'm gonna fire mine up right now and take off.
Stay safe my friend.

If the temps are always in the 90+ range you can use 20w50. Alleyoop I may try the heavier oil during spring and summer and switch back to 15w40 during the winter months. But for now I say damn the oil use full speed ahead. I got a lot of riding to do. Stay safe my friends.
