My Aeoulus 300 tends to use a little oil. It don't leak or burn it. There is no oil in the coolant. Its got to go some were. Is this due to evaporation?. If so is there a way to fix it. It will use about 3/4 quart between oil changes. No big deal as the engine runs very strong. Just puzzles me. I change the oil every 1000 to 1200 miles. The scoot has 5010 miles on it. Any ideas?.

Don't know the answer, but wow -- 3/4 quart??!! My Roketa (244cc) only takes about 0.8 quart, and as I recall my Magnum, allegedly 300cc but actually 276cc, takes about 1.25. So 3/4 quart is a LOT of loss compared to total capacity.

The crankcase is pressurized. Oil that makes it past the gasket would come out atomized, and would be very hard to notice, especially as the exhaust would immediately burn it off. Assuming it's not making its way past the rings, check around the crankcase gasket, especially around where the stator wires exit at the top of the case. You may need to hold some paper around it to see any atomized oil coming out.

I will check around the stator wires as mentioned. It is just weird. There is plenty of pep in this engine and it don't smoke. I will do the paper check too. If it were making it past the rings would it not smoke?. I will clean the area were the stator wires come out of the crankcase and put a good heat resistant silicone sealant on it. I hope there is nothing wrong with the motor. It runs like a bat out of Hades. Thanks for the info.

I know you did not mean 3/4 of the oil you put in, that would leave you with very little oil in the crankcase. Now when you do change the oil don't forget NOT ALL THE OIL will drain out. Some oil is in the passages and by the oil pump not sitting in the crankcase where you can drain it. Before you change it check the level of the oil with the DIP STICK. Alleyoop

This dang thing runs to good for it to be something major. Heck it cranks first spin every morning and just idles its heart out. Puzzling.

Alleyoop You are correct alleyoop. It will use the oil in between oil changes. Not 3/4 capacity of crankcase.

It could also be squirting it out the VALVE cover vent hose when the crankcase builds up a lot of pressure. Most motors will use a little oil maybe 1-2 ozs of oil but if more then it would be burning it and you would see some blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Alleyoop

Alleyoop I haven't noticed any blue smoke or any other smoke. I watch it. If so this would indicate a worn cylinder correct?. I have not seen a valve cover vent hose on this scoot. I will look closer. In the meantime it still runs great and I'm gonna enjoy it. Thanks for the help folks..

.... It will use about 3/4 quart between oil changes. ... So okay, what DID you mean by that? What IS the oil capacity of your scoot? I found 3.2 gal for gas, but nothing for oil.

ellpee, It takes around 40.5 ounces (1.2 liters) on a oil change. It will use about 3/4 quart ( around .70 liter) between oil changes. No big deal i check it regularly. I suspect it is got a leak some where. It just don't show up until it is being ran. I am going to check the crankcase gasket real good. To the naked eye it looks o.k. It is a problem I can live with as it runs so dang good.

it makes sence to me that like Alleyoop said its probley not all draining out like said if it takes the 0,75 3/4ths like you say makes sence to me ,that the 244cc holds .90 an then probley after change holds like 0.80 like ellpee said quart is 16 ounces so 3/4ths is 12 ounces of oil my 2 cents ,like you say check it ,is what I do with everything I make it habbit to check each time I ride it unless its every day 10w40

Your scoot, your call, but if any motor vehicle of mine were using over half of its oil between changes I would definitely consider it a problem. Especially if you're changing every 1000-1500 miles. Both of mine (244cc Roketa, 4500 miles, and 276cc "300" Magnum, right at 1000 miles) use no more than an once or two between changes. The capacity on my Magnum, BTW, seems to be about the same as on your scoot.

Yeah scot I check it all the time. Air pressure in tires too. Its a must. I wonder if switching to pure synthetic oil would make a difference. Ive read that some people use only synthetic and some wont touch it. I know in a car your supposed to be able to go longer mileage between oil changes with the synthetic oil. Whats the pros and cons with synthetic vs standard oil. I been thinking about switching to see if there was any difference between the two performance wise.
