ellpee, It takes around 40.5 ounces (1.2 liters) on a oil change. It will use about 3/4 quart ( around .70 liter) between oil changes. No big deal i check it regularly. I suspect it is got a leak some where. It just don't show up until it is being ran. I am going to check the crankcase gasket real good. To the naked eye it looks o.k. It is a problem I can live with as it runs so dang good. Your scoot, your call, but if any motor vehicle of mine were using over half of its oil between changes I would definitely consider it a problem. Especially if you're changing every 1000-1500 miles. Both of mine (244cc Roketa, 4500 miles, and 276cc "300" Magnum, right at 1000 miles) use no more than an once or two between changes. The capacity on my Magnum, BTW, seems to be about the same as on your scoot. I hope there is no problem with it ellpee. I have been having such a good time with this scoot that I have put the oil use in the back of my mind. I would not even know where to begin to check if there was a real bad problem other than the obvious things. If it gets worse I have another identical motor with 9000 miles on it that I could throw in there if need be. that way I could really give this motor a real going over. I hope it don't come to that. Im having too much fun now to be without a scoot. I would be on the road either way.

Well, I can't offer any advice that others haven't already contributed. No blue smoke out the tailpipe, no oil drips on the driveway, no oil in coolant or vice versa, equals no clue as far as I'm concerned -- I too would be stumped. Hope somebody comes up with an "aha moment" to help you out.

Bones, if it were making it past the rings, even at such a samll rate to not make smoke, you likely would still have a fouled plug. Check your spark plug for oil deposits.

Ill check the plug as soon as this dang rain stops. Its been a monsoon here for 2 days running. I keep looking for the ark to float by. Its been raining that much.

Is a heavier oil in a relatively warm climate good to use. If so what are the recommendations?. By the way I checked the plug and it was good. No apparent fouling at all. Go figure.

If the temps are always in the 90+ range you can use 20w50. Alleyoop

Good luck, bones113. I say again, losing .75L of oil out of 1.2L with a 1000-1500 mile change interval strikes me as pretty significant. But if you top off the oil after every longer ride, and/or use one of those "Motor Honey" type products, maybe all will be good. I wish it for ya.

Thanks ellpee. I check every morning before I fire it up. I think I may pull that other motor I have and put it in there. I know it is good. Then I will tear this one down. I figure I can change the motor out in a few hours. In the mean time I'm gonna scoot with the one I have, It still runs crazy good.
