wow that's a lot of rain ,like the way it rain florida ,sure why not an the heavyer oils may work better to That was going to be my next question. Is a heavier oil in a relatively warm climate good to use. If so what are the recommendations?. By the way I checked the plug and it was good. No apparent fouling at all. Go figure.

hey bones113,you should have the ark down there by now---I think I saw it float by on the Mississippi river last night--we had enough to float it across our cotton fields the last few days--good luck, happy trails, fflintstone We had 15 inches of rain. Man what a downpour. Its supposed to clear up. I am looking forward to it. It is time to scoot!

Bones, if it were making it past the rings, even at such a small rate to not make smoke, you likely would still have a fouled plug. Check your spark plug for oil deposits. Ill check the plug as soon as this dang rain stops. Its been a monsoon here for 2 days running. I keep looking for the ark to float by. Its been raining that much.

ellpee, It takes around 40.5 ounces (1.2 liters) on a oil change. It will use about 3/4 quart ( around .70 liter) between oil changes. No big deal i check it regularly. I suspect it is got a leak some where. It just don't show up until it is being ran. I am going to check the crankcase gasket real good. To the naked eye it looks o.k. It is a problem I can live with as it runs so dang good. Your scoot, your call, but if any motor vehicle of mine were using over half of its oil between changes I would definitely consider it a problem. Especially if you're changing every 1000-1500 miles. Both of mine (244cc Roketa, 4500 miles, and 276cc "300" Magnum, right at 1000 miles) use no more than an once or two between changes. The capacity on my Magnum, BTW, seems to be about the same as on your scoot. I hope there is no problem with it ellpee. I have been having such a good time with this scoot that I have put the oil use in the back of my mind. I would not even know where to begin to check if there was a real bad problem other than the obvious things. If it gets worse I have another identical motor with 9000 miles on it that I could throw in there if need be. that way I could really give this motor a real going over. I hope it don't come to that. Im having too much fun now to be without a scoot. I would be on the road either way.

Yeah scot I check it all the time. Air pressure in tires too. Its a must. I wonder if switching to pure synthetic oil would make a difference. Ive read that some people use only synthetic and some wont touch it. I know in a car your supposed to be able to go longer mileage between oil changes with the synthetic oil. Whats the pros and cons with synthetic vs standard oil. I been thinking about switching to see if there was any difference between the two performance wise.

It could also be squirting it out the VALVE cover vent hose when the crankcase builds up a lot of pressure. Most motors will use a little oil maybe 1-2 ozs of oil but if more then it would be burning it and you would see some blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Alleyoop I haven't noticed any blue smoke or any other smoke. I watch it. If so this would indicate a worn cylinder correct?. I have not seen a valve cover vent hose on this scoot. I will look closer. In the meantime it still runs great and I'm gonna enjoy it. Thanks for the help folks..

I know you did not mean 3/4 of the oil you put in, that would leave you with very little oil in the crankcase. Now when you do change the oil don't forget NOT ALL THE OIL will drain out. Some oil is in the passages and by the oil pump not sitting in the crankcase where you can drain it. Before you change it check the level of the oil with the DIP STICK. Alleyoop You are correct alleyoop. It will use the oil in between oil changes. Not 3/4 capacity of crankcase.

What kind of oil you using I use the 15w40 and it works good for my 250B scooter. I use rotella 15w40 diesel oil. Its all I have ever used. I don't understand it. This dang thing runs to good for it to be something major. Heck it cranks first spin every morning and just idles its heart out. Puzzling.

I will check around the stator wires as mentioned. It is just weird. There is plenty of pep in this engine and it don't smoke. I will do the paper check too. If it were making it past the rings would it not smoke?. I will clean the area were the stator wires come out of the crankcase and put a good heat resistant silicone sealant on it. I hope there is nothing wrong with the motor. It runs like a bat out of Hades. Thanks for the info.

My Aeoulus 300 tends to use a little oil. It don't leak or burn it. There is no oil in the coolant. Its got to go some were. Is this due to evaporation?. If so is there a way to fix it. It will use about 3/4 quart between oil changes. No big deal as the engine runs very strong. Just puzzles me. I change the oil every 1000 to 1200 miles. The scoot has 5010 miles on it. Any ideas?.

The Aelous 300's have some level of vibration anyway. I think it is torque related. I am used to it now. Dont bother me in the least. I think you will find that as you ride it more and more it will become less of an issue because you will be enjoying the heck out of that scoot. It is just plain fun. I love mine. Best source of enjoyment I know. (Well 2nd best anyway) lol.

I have been there with the kickstand switch. I have went thru 2 of them on my Linhai 300. I finally took it off and spliced the wires together. If you take yours off make sure your kickstand is up before taking off. I am not saying that you should take yours off as it is a way to kill your motor should the need arises but until I order another one this will have to do. There must be a manufacturing problem with these switches. If my 3rd one goes out I will take it off permanently. To me it is not worth repeatedly spending money on a defective item.

It has a spark plug tool, interchangeable screw driver, pliers, Mine had a fuse puller, maybe 1 or 2 other items and a plastic roll up container. The only thing I use is the spark plug tool. I carry a small tool bag under the saddle with a few of the tools I feel I need. I also carry a spare cdi and coil just in case. You aint missing any thing not having it.
