I have a 2008 MC 54 250B.
1. First disconnect the battery.
2. Take off the seat.
3. Take off the rear left and right side panels. Might need to take off the license plate and lights assembly to get the back loose. I did not and never found out how to release the back connection. I will on my nest tear down this summer.
4. Take off the front right and left panels. I just loosened them up to get the floor boards off but next time I will removed the front covers so I can adjust the headlights, check electrical,
5. Remover the foot boards. Take off the scuff boards, aluminum or rubber, and release the screws. There are four plastic retainers on my scoot that can be forced up and out. I was able to reuse them but I also bought some new ones in the auto store just in case. Remove the screws attaching and then lift it up.
This was not my sequence when I did my scoot but it sure makes sense to take the top parts off first, then the floor part. Reverse to reinstall. I did it the hard way and worked the floor boards out from under the front and rear panels. Really worse when trying to force things back together. Luckily I did no damage to the plastic panels.
Take the screws off each panel and put into a plastic bag, then tape the bag to the panel. On some maybe just some tape to hold the one or two screws to the part. Many screws are the same but some are longer so note their locations.
When reinstalling get some RTV on hand. Dip each screw into the RTV and then install. The hardened RTV will resist the screws vibrating free.
Not much direct help but an outline you may find useful. .

How many wires come out of the cord? I would think the label is telling about the internal wiring. .

OK, I started to rework my scoot this morning and did the obvious things first. I rechecked fuses again. This time I found a bad fuse working the lights. I always thought he horse shoe shape in the middle would burn away like in other fuses. It is still solid but this time I notices a burn looking area on one of the legs. So I put in a spare and now the lights system is working again.
With the lights now working I can ride again and the rest of the tear down and rework will wait until the heat is on like my first plan stated. But of course, if the lights go off again there has to be something wrong and the tear down will start then.
So now I can ride again and get some of that practice I need after nearly a year without riding. Just as soon as the doctors say I can ride, no dizzy or narcotic medicines, I will be on the road. At least another week till the pills are gone. .

I would love to do that but as I said above it is not legal right now. I am having kidney stone problems and don't know when I will be able to do the check out and repairs. So for now I have ordered the update tags for my license. I think that will do up until August and then I will be declared by Arizona to be a resident, no more 'snow bird' time. I hope by then I will have it fixed and time to get readjusted to riding. The DMV here is on a heavy traveled road for about three miles of city traffic. I came from a small town of 8,000 in Colorado to this much heavier congestion area of Arizona. I think I need some practice and confidence time before I commit to that ride. .

I do Vehicle titling and registration for Wisconsin. A few years ago, Wisconsin required a VIN verification on all vehicles that came in from out of State to be titled here. This was supposed to stop the registering of stolen vehicles. That process has been stopped here now. I wonder if that is what they are doing there. You have a legal title for Co so it shouldn't be a big deal except to make sure the VIN on the title matches the bike. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair Jim. I think your are absolutely correct with that verification with a police inspection. That is exactly what they asked me to do. Bring the machine in to be inspected. I consider that to be only a 'make do' solution. I prefer to have it properly corrected and on the public records as others are. So I just sent a letter off to my local police in Colorado. I figure if I can get the VIN published I won't have this problem any more should I move again or try to sell. In the meantime, till I get the bike stripped and the electrical repaired, I have ordered a Colorado renewal license for the plates. I will wait and see what the police tell me and in the meantime I will be legal in both Colorado and Arizona, for a while at least. .

allyoop, I handed those folks the annual license renewal form from Colorado and the Colorado title. Arizona is apparently interested in what is available on their computer only.
JR, the vehical data registry link came back with a positive response but then it asked for two fees, one for about $35 for long term membership and another for about $25 for one year access. Apparently for some reason the VIN is available through police records but not the state.
Maybe I will start with a call to the Colorado home police first. Since the Arizona folks want to restart with another search of VIN and paper works with a police report being the first step, then it might be better to find the VIN properly registered in the public accessed records.
Thanks to both for your responses. .

Yesterday I went to the MVD place, stood in line get a number, sat on a chair till called. I presented title, Colorado registration form, insurance, old Colorado plate. The lady went away for five minutes and handed it all back to me and said the Vin would not come up. She said I needed to take it to the back door and have it inspected. I told her I could not as the electrical system is acting up and I would be illegal at this time. So I was told to come back when things were working.
So I went home and ordered the next year of Colorado license as I don't know when I will get the scoot back on the road and would like it to be licensed prior to having Arizona do the swap. I need it to practice a bit before going on a heavy traffic road to get to the DMV place.
What is the way the VIN gets into the data base so I and others can pull VIN checks? If I have an idea I might be able to call them and ask why my VIN is not available.
I tried some of the available VIN links and some say not available and others ask for money. I hate paying money to strangers so I back out of those.
So if anyone has an idea who builds these lists and who is responsible for providing this VIN to them, I may have a place to call.
I am pretty sure that Arizona will license my scoot if I take it to the examination area and let them double check the VIN with the makers labels. But I would like to end any future problems like a sale if the VIN is not properly recorded. .

Richard, thanks for your note. This problem is no longer just a light flickering. The entire lighting system is off. Front and rear are dead. But on occasion they come on briefly then go off again. I am hoping that it might just be a loose connector. I won't know till I get a chance to strip the plastics. But a clue to which cable or connector would help.
Seems like wires going this way and that under the covers. They all seemed to be tight when I was in there last year. I did not do what some suggested about new wire ends and connectors.

Checked the fuses but no luck. So I looked for the connectors I might want to check. Best I can find by looking at my old photos of the PDI age and it seems they are under the most difficult piece to remove or replace. The black center peice and floor boards. Looks like a strip down is going to happen.
EDIT: A few tips on what and where to look would be appreciated.
First the garage needs tidied up a bit. Too much of the move laying around. So first I go to Wal Mart and buy some storage. Once I have some clear floor to lay the panels on I will start the tear down. May need some help on the back as I never got those side panels clear of the frame. Still locked at the rear section above the license plate. I may have to remove the license plate and other small pieces at the rear.
Good time to do the seat latch too. Then move on forward and see about the lights aiming. Was planning on waiting till the heavy heat days when I won't be riding. Now I won't be riding for other reasons so might just start some fixing. Will get to the DOT this week and get the registration taken care of so Arizona won't get mad at me. .

It appears I must move my repair list up to a sooner date, like now.
The lighting problem is more than just the date time indicator. It is all my lights, front and rear. The turn signals still work, but that is all that I can see. The temp gauge seems dead and the fan did not come on.
I discovered this on my weekly start and run period since I can't drive with some of the medicines I take right now. I just like to start and heat up once a week to keep all systems awake. Until I get it registered in Arizona I probably should not ride it anyway. In two weeks the Colorado license expires.
OK, I have a circuit diagram of a MC-54B-250 which should be accurate enough for my scoot. The 54B has the Linhai and I have the Honda clone but most else should be the same. Problem with the circuit diagram is that it does nothing about showing where the connectors are that may have come loose.
This morning the lights flickered back on and then went off. This is when I discovered that it was the entire lighting system and not just he date time indicator.
A little help here if possible. Could this just be the fuse? Could this be a connector and where might it hide?
Love the fuse idea and I may find that to be true as that is where I will start. But with the on and off situation it sounds more like a loose connector. .

If still looking then you should decide if you want a Linhai clone or a Honda clone engine. I have a 2008 MC 54 250B and it has a Honda clone in it. I have not put many miles on it yet but am happy with the ride and acceleration.
One response said they had a MC 54B 250 and that does have a Linhai clone. As that is what Roketa says has the Linhai engine. MC 54B 250
The differences are both physical and power. The Honda clone is a vertical engine of 244cc. The Linhai clone is a horizontal engine with a 257cc size. As you read these posts you will find good and not so good about each engine. Valve adjustments are said to be easier on the Honda, I have not had that to do so far.
Why am I saying this is in case you have a preference. Be sure to ask the sellers, new or used, what is moving the machine. I never asked and wondered what I was actually buying until after I got it delivered. So far I am satisfied with the Honda I got.
For your information I paid $1960 delivered last year at this time. If they are now selling newer years like 2011 they might just be a bit higher in cost.
Where to buy might just depend on where you live. Maybe some suggestions will be offered. I had mine shipped from California to Colorado. But I did have some connections to good buys in Colorado but they would not deliver and I had no way to transport. I am OK with what I did. .

OK Richard, I will keep that in mind. Seems like I will have to strip the plastics so taking a good look at the cables won't be too hard. I know it worked after I first unpacked the scoot but then one day I noticed that only the side was working. .

Does anyone have more info on cell jammers??? Screw the added fee to install one in new cars... I want one on my scoot with a mile radius ;D ;D. No calls within a mile of me riding. That would be cool Have you tried this that I posted above? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_jammeror just Google 'cell phone jammer' .

Ask an engineer, they may be able to design one. Mount in the hub of the steering wheel with a 2 or 3 foot range. Passengers sitting away from the driver would then be free to use the phone.
I had not thought that the cell phone would have much need but your tale says some may find it useful. I am not a phone person, never was, never will be. I only talk net on the phone. If someone wants to chat I will break it off and attempt a personal meeting. When my phone rings and it is a recording I hang up rather than listen. If it is political I hang up. If it is a wrong number I say so and hang up. If it is a wrong number multiple times I tell them to quite calling as I am tired of answering. On some wrong numbers, collectors or school offices I wait till I get a chance to speak and then tell them my number is falsely being used and please stop calling. There is always the threat for calling the NO CALL folks if they don't stop calling.
It is always amazing to me to see someone driving in city traffic enter a shopping mall and then walking into the stores still talking on a phone. To my thinking that is somehow not necessary and having jammer's seems like a good idea to me. But I am just a hard headed person I guess.
And I agree with what you said about those built in phones and GPS built right in. I really don't want that built in stuff and it is far too pricey, I would rather have a personal GPS that allows me to update maps as I decide and sometimes it is free. I asked my Realtor why she had a personal GPS and she said that getting the car up dated would cost a big price but her personal GPS came with free updates. To me those built in consoles are just another distraction for the drivers. The personal GPS came with a suction mount so she could hang it up high so she did not have to turn her head to see it. And there was a little lady inside that box that kept telling her where she was and where to turn.
OK, I will shut up now. I don't like phones but I do enjoy forums and emails. .

2008 MC-54-250B with Honda clone engine. Still not riding much but planning on more soon.
1. Today while on the scoot the clock calender went black. What might the cause be for that. Would this be wiring or blown bulbs. Best way to get into the front area?
2. Head lights need adjusting also. I can feel them up through the front plastic but one is not even adjustable as it is as it is just swinging around in there. The other is somehow clamped to position. Sounds like some surgery required.
3. Seat locking unlocking cables need proper positioning or replaced. The very back latch does not work. The cable is not pulling when the key is turned.
These three projects will wait till I get more of my moving and changing legal things done. Will have to register and get plates for the scoot this month. I will probably hold off till the hundreds appear as I probably don't want to sweat that much with helmet on while riding. Good time for a nice fan running in the garage while I strip plastic from both front and back. It will get naked if necessary.
So any ideas or clues offered will be considered. I may also find more things to do as time passes. .
