Hi Bhinch, what have you done if anything to your scooter? what gear oil do you use. have you put any different headlight bulbs in to make them brighter. Thanks Eric.

Welcome Erick... I too own a 54B and if you take care of it you'll enjoy taking it to work each day. I put 10,000 miles on mine in a year and a half. Did you make the purchase? Here is a link you should look at. Then you will know if he did any of the things listed in the PDI. As far as headlights go buy a set of these .ebay.com/itm/Xenon-lamp-BA20d" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.ebay.com/itm/Xenon-lamp-BA20d.... item415fa899fa They are bright and won't damage the headlight lens. I would start my offer at $800 and get a feel on how firm he is on the price. Good Luck

Welcome to the forum Ericlaw! Properly set up and running goo the 250B will cruise at 60 to 65MPH with no issues. This scooter has been reported to go as fast as 75MPH but I wouldn't ride any scooter that fast for long myself. Oils all depends on your area and riding conditions, I use nothing but standard Castrol engine oil 10W/30W in cold weather and I run 20W/50W in the hot arkansas summers. A lot of people use 10W/40W oil which is fine too. Transmission oil I use a good grade 75W to 90W or the combo oil of 70W/90W again lots of good brands. Yes I would ride this scooter and see how it feels and runs and you can still get a brand new one even though it is a older model 07 or 08 still in the crate delivered for around $1500 to $1800 so keep that in mind when buying a used one. Just like the guys suggested PDI. Riding to work 11 miles one way? great scooter of choice, properly maintained it will be economical and dependable to ride. I've rode my to Dallas Tx. and back 4 times a 816 mile round trip. Again Welcome to the forum. JR

Welcome the forum, Ericlaw, I have a 2008 mc-54-250b and I love it. If your a big guy like me 6' 1" 220 pounds it is the scooter for you, it will fit you well, a lot of scoots I look at were just tooo small. JR is right take it for a ride and see how it handles, Speedracer is right, offer them $800.00 if they want too sell it, they will come down. we are here to help as soon as you buy your first scoot Good Luck (I take mine to work 13mile one way, took it today.)

Eric if you do a search on Goggle for "Roketa 250 cc 54b you will find dealers who still have the 2008 model brand new for like JR said $1500-1800.

If still looking then you should decide if you want a Linhai clone or a Honda clone engine. I have a 2008 MC 54 250B and it has a Honda clone in it. I have not put many miles on it yet but am happy with the ride and acceleration.
One response said they had a MC 54B 250 and that does have a Linhai clone. As that is what Roketa says has the Linhai engine. MC 54B 250
The differences are both physical and power. The Honda clone is a vertical engine of 244cc. The Linhai clone is a horizontal engine with a 257cc size. As you read these posts you will find good and not so good about each engine. Valve adjustments are said to be easier on the Honda, I have not had that to do so far.
Why am I saying this is in case you have a preference. Be sure to ask the sellers, new or used, what is moving the machine. I never asked and wondered what I was actually buying until after I got it delivered. So far I am satisfied with the Honda I got.
For your information I paid $1960 delivered last year at this time. If they are now selling newer years like 2011 they might just be a bit higher in cost.
Where to buy might just depend on where you live. Maybe some suggestions will be offered. I had mine shipped from California to Colorado. But I did have some connections to good buys in Colorado but they would not deliver and I had no way to transport. I am OK with what I did. .
