JR, I just finished my homework. That thread you posted is really a mixed up mess. Really difficult to decide if those folks were getting ripped or if the confusion with the B designation is overwhelming. Responses like ordered a B but did not get what I wanted. Now what does that mean anyway? Did he order a 250B or a 54B? Not stated, Was he expecting a Linhai engine or a Honda engine? Not specified. To me and what was stated in the long thread was the Rocketa system said 54B for Linhai and nothing about 250 B bringing a Linhai. One responce said the following - that's supposed to be the 54B with the Linhai motor. Others responded by saying my order arrived and it is OK, but no reference to 54B or 250B and which engine had they ordered and which one they got. Yes sir, a very confused bunch of owners and posters. People must be more specific in order to tell a tale from beginning to end. Much confusion too, between the Chinese folks, the importers, the distributors, and dealers. Specifically if one wants a Linhai engine that must be clear from top to bottom and make sure that you are really ordering the right machine. I still think that ordering a 54B will bring the Linhai engine and otherwise you get what you get. Now in that thread there were some questions about the legitimacy of the Linhai engine. It is truly a licensed and agreed upon Linhai engine. .yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/news/2003/08/01/joint.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/news/2003/08/01/joint.htmlDetail Official announcement data of Yamaha Motor. August 01, 2003 Multi-Purpose Engine Manufacturing Joint Venture in Jiangsu Province, China Manufacturing Transferred from Japan to China ............................ Not too long so take a minute to read it. Well JR, I guess I have been learning a lot so far. Just don't think enough of us really order properly and it appears the dealers don't know much better either. I can not believe that 250B is the proper way to order a Lihai engine machine but am convinced that 54B will do the job. And just saying I ordered a B machine tells nothing. Still looking for the proper verification. .

Well, you gave me quite a project to run. Will step through those links as soon as I can. But with your comments and my post that I own a 250B and it is Honda, then these comments that 250B is Linhai are just not true either.
My one experience tells me that on a next purchase I will need to be a bit more picky and know what I am ordering before putting up the money.
My scoot has YY250T on the top of the steering column area, dash area, whatever some may call it. Under the seat is the plates showing Jonway to be the builder, YY250T, 244cc, and VIN number. Is there no way to be sure what you are buying? .

OK JR, your post takes me right back to the confusion that just wrote about. I have a 250B and it is a Honda clone just as the Rocketa scooter and parts catalog says it should be. The 54B seems to be the correct place to say a Linhai clone.
Where is our friend, Lady Mc who has one of those Linhai engins, I think. Is her machine a 54B? I really can't think of her handle right now.
I won't surrender yet as I believe the 54B is Linhai and 250 plain or with a B is the Honda clone.
Thanks for you post JR.

Would you like to move to Colorado? My home is for sale. Small town, four corners area, mild climate summer and winter, half acre lot, 2,700 ft house, 22X28 oversized garage attached and then on oversize 1 car garage at rear of lot for shop or storage. No HOA involved. A much better setup that what I have just bought in Arizona. Good part about Arizona is the riding season is twice as long. Not sure if I would like to be riding in the 100 plus degrees temp.
Well, if you don't want it, maybe someone else on this forum might.
I understand your relief. From Colorado to my Arizona home is about 9 hours with gas and potty stops included. Half the ride is straight across the Navajo Nation. An easy drive through open country but possible stops are about an hour apart for this stretch.

Hope it stays that way.
It seems to be something in the front latch area that is not working on my scoot. I will try to find and fix the problem and will try to write up a clear story about what I found and how I fixed it and include appropriate pictures too. It won't happen real soon though as the following move will put a lot of work on me and the wife. Once relocated and settled in I will have plenty of time for the project. I have a half acre of grass up here but when I move I will only have a small city lot filled with gravel. I like a well mowed lawn but it all takes time and if you don't water, fertilize, mow, edge, spray weeds, poison insects, kill mildew, trims plantings, pickup trash, etc. you end up with a big ugly mess. Watching the rocks is pretty simple and nothing happens if you don't watch them all the time. Lots more time for scoot projects. ..

Right now I am in Arizona looking to buy a house. Before I came down here I had my side panel almost off but could not figure out the rear part. I had removed the small panel under the lights and taken screws out there. I also took out two screws on the top of the rear. But for some reason I could not get the side panel off at the rear. I am wondering if I must also remove the light assembly to find more screws holding the rear panel to the small panel on the top of the lamp assembly. But I also discovered that to get to the front latch and see what is happening or not happening I must also remove the plastic rim of the under seat area.
So at this point I have decided to put it all back together until I actually get moved down to Arizona. So then I will tell all and post some pictures of the latch problems too. So maybe in a couple months I will be able to do that. .

It seems to be a unanimous feeling, my latch cables are be the problem.
Rocketa parts lists shows two cables for the latching system. So I won't really know till I do the tear down and see just what is wrong.
Thanks for the inputs folks. .

Spent some time looking at the seat latches. I noticed the seat clamping hooks are molded in so nothing to adjust there. Used a flashlight and looked down into the latch areas. The side latch shows a spring stretching and some metal parts moving when I turn the key in the lock. The rear latch does not move. I can see the cable and an end container lead on the cable but it does not move at all when I turn the key in the lock. So I assume at this point that the cable is broken or maybe just disconnected from the lock itself.
Certainly a covers off operation just to see the problem and then to determine what to do. So I will leave it be until I get my move to Arizona completed. Then I will remove the trunk, the deck, the side cover, just to see what must be wrong. At least it won't be freezing down there. Up here I don't have a heated garage and the wife won't let me bring it into the living room. .

As stated, it latches at the side but not the back. How I noticed is that the seat seems be taking the shape of a saddle. The back is curling up. The other reason is that if there is a function available it should be working. .

MC 54 250 244cc Honda clone
This question has been asked more than once but I have not been able to find any answers. I did use search.
Seat latch adjustments. I noticed on my scoot that the seat does latch on the side but not at the back. I looked at it but don't even see what part of the latch I need to fiddle with. I turn the key with the seat up but nothing is moving so I have no clue.
If this is another of those remove the covers situations that is OK. I can hold the information till my next tear down session. Which I suppose I will need to do to aim the headlights, redo fluids, whatever.
So back to the seat latch adjustments. If anyone has had to fix the rear latch I would like a bit of information please. .

Yes, a bit cheaper. If you add in a second ring terminal you should get free shipping too. Without the free shipping I could not find the total cost as I could not get to final bill until doing a sign in part. I left then. I still like going to a local party like ACE and keeping the money at home and have the parts in hand before I have to pay and wait for delivery. .

Good idea Bobf. I have a little trickle charger that hooks up easily. What is the difference between a trickle charger and a Battery tender JR? Not knowing the specs of each I can't tell. Probably not much difference at all as Battery tender JR is also a trickle charger. Possibly in the chargers control methods of three steps to hold the charge. Full charge, trickle charge, holding. I think. What I liked about the Battery tender was the slip on cable ends that made it so easy to use. By putting the ring terminal end on the scoot I can get to it by lifting the seat. I no longer need to open a battery cover and then go through the problem of forcing the cables back into submission when I try to put the battery cover back on for my next ride. Flip the seat, lay the cable out the front of the seat and connect the charger cable. Shut the seat. When ready to ride, unplug the charger, cable flip the seat, store the cable end, shut the seat and away I go. .

From the link posted. ............... Battery Tender Junior YOUR PRICE TODAY $35.96 MSRP $39.95 YOU SAVE 10%! EDIT TO ADD: OOPS! My mistake. I did not see the little side add along the border. But when I click on the Battery tender for $22.99 it comes up with the $39.95. Strange conditions there. But there is a BikeBandit charger for $24.95, not described as a battery tender though, just a charger. .

Fall is the best time of the year in Ohio. When my parents were still around I would always set my vacation to September. The rest of the year I just tried to avoid. That is why I have not lived there for 40 years. .acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3873331" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3873331mcalli, spend $34 and you will have a good battery next spring. I went to Ace Hardware and ordered one of those Deltran battery tender juniors from them. They did not have it in stock here where I live so they ordered it free of freight charges. The truck came in 3 days later and there it was. I saved $0.73 by ordering from Ace rather than EBay and had it in hand before I had to pay for it. thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=discussion&action=display&thread=418I have the quick disconnect hooked to my battery and it comes right out the front of the seat. I just open the seat and put the wire out the front, close the seat and hook up the cable from the charger unit. This winter when it gets much colder I will keep it sometimes on my scoot and then on my riding mower and back and forth. Then come spring I should be able to start them both. It is a pretty neat setup with plug in cable and two different ends. One has ring terminals that I put on to the battery post and it just requires a quick connection to the cable from the charger. The other end has two clip on ends just like a regular charger cable has and it also can connect to the charger cable. So no problem moving from on device to another and more end pieces can be ordered if you need them. For $34 it seems like a pretty well thought out design. .
