Thanks bobf I am immigrating to the US next year and I am busy looking at car prices, apartments, health care etc etc and I might buy a scooter again as my first and immediate mode of transport until I find suitable employment. On that point I must say I love the Chev Equinox and the Ford Explorer. Neither of these vehicles are sold in SA except the Chev Captiva and the new Ford Escape which they call the Kuga here.

I think I understand now. It's simply because it is about 26 lbs lighter, probably near the end of the month so no reason to cart my wallet around which creates extra weight.

It is said that humans perform better on an empty (or near) empty stomach. Could the scooter be the same?
Now I don't know if I am imagining myself but more than once have I noticed a slight improvement in performance when the tank is almost empty such as having about 4 liters left (6 or 7 pints).
Now is this my imagination or perhaps as a result of less fuel pressure on the pump and carb bowl because of the diminished weight (gravity) of the full tank gas and basically a slightly leaner gas delivery to the engine. The scoot feels more lively and responsive.

Done that. The little metal base of the antenna is grounded to metal body and the radio is grounded as well. Your antenna is so short?

Hello everybody trusting you doing well. I want to know about the quality of your radio reception if you have a radio on board your scoot. I do know the antenna must be well grounded especially since mine is mounted on the back plastic 'luggage compartment" I read that a cars body acts as a type of a resonance plate which the scoot doesn't have. Perhaps foil paper on the inside of the compartments lid might aid reception.
Can anybody throw light on the subject of radio reception?

Thanx boys. JR I will sell the scoot here because the mods I have done especially the jets will surely fail a test in the US besides every dime I can bring with will be needed. Once there I will surely try to buy a two wheeler (and a four obviously) and if finances permits well I have been dreaming of a R1200RT BMW. I am one of those people who believe that when you immigrate to another country you must embrace every thing about them and I plan on doing that. The accent will come later maybe never.

Hi all JR knows I have been to the US before visiting my daughter. Now in Jan she became a US Citizen and has applied for me as her father to immigrate to the US as well. If all goes well I should make the move there around June 2014. I do hope to perhaps meet some of you if you in the Arlington Fairfax VA area.

JR thank you for that info. I visited Arlington Cemetery when I was there and I can categorically tell you that was the coldest day in my life. I thought my ears were going to crack off. I was amazed watching those guards walking up and down. I thought they did so in hourly shifts and not 30min so that is new to me. Actually everything I just read is new to me. I was told that the tomb actually contains the remains of three unknown soldiers and not just one. I would like to know if the gloves are wet in winter as well cause hands will just freeze around the rifle. Needless to say I was extremely impressed. I have never seen guards looking so impeccable in all my life.

I'm having seat locking problems and instead of taking the compartment under the seat out which is major, I figured just cut a hole with an angle grinder for easy access and removal. Once the side cover is back no "damage" is visible. Attachments:

Hi all I want to know why, when I charge the battery up to say 12.7 v and then remove the charger, does the charge drop to say 12.5 after about an hour of non-charging. Is this correct?
