Ok After I took it back apart yesterday the Gasket lined up PERFECT with the cylinder ports but not with the Head. So modifying the Gasket was not an option the gasket was half blocked off by head. So I took my dremel with carbide cutter and opened up the water ports on the head so that there would be nice water flow strait through from the cylinder ports all they way threw the head. Put it all back together and we went on about a 40 mile ride tonight. Was about 82 degrees out and we were able to run flat out at around 57 mph for about 18 miles it stayted below 178. On the second half of trip 12 mile section it came up to 197 and the last section twisty road along the River stayed below 190. This is by far the best results we have had in over a year. For over a year we would only be able to run at about 57 for about 8 miles and it would climb up to about 220 we would have to run 40 mph for 15 miles to get it back down to a 180 ish range then maybe 3-5 miles at 55 then slow to 40. If we ran back roads we where we could just run 45 all the time we could keep the temps around 185 all day.

I built a scooter Lift 4 years ago when I got my 250cc scooter. I wanted something to have the scooter elevated so I could do a good PDI on it. Since then this lift has proven to be one of the best things I ever built as it is used all the time for doing scooter maintenance on not only my scooters but my dads also. Well over time space in the garage has become very valuable. So I decided it would be nice to be able to fold the lift up to take less space in the garage. After a bit of thinking on it and measuring I found that with it folded up It would be just about the same height as my other benches so when folded up to move out of the way it could double as a work bench. Here are the Pictures I am in the process of uploading a Video to YouTube and will provide a link to that when it is done also. Scooter Lift Rebuild

The last year has been NUTS. Worked all last summer redoing my basement so that my dad could move in. Which took place in late August of last year. So Last year did not do much scooter riding at all. And so far this year has not been much for riding either with my Dad moving in with us my garage has been converted to a multi purpose Work shop for Wood working and for working on scooters. It is coming along well though it has been tough my dad brought along 50+ years of accumulation to add to my 18+ years so trying to sort through and get rid of everything we do not need has been quite a chore.
The garage is coming together quite well and as of 3 weeks ago we were finally able to unburry the scooters for the first time. My garage is now insulated and is quite comfortable to work in now with temps in the 90s able to keep the garage in the 70s which is great for working out there. I have it wired for internet so we have computer out there as well as radio. If I find a good deal on a good small LED TV will add that in out there also so we can what Football or what ever when we are wood working or working on scooters.
Work is still very BUSY. We got bought out a year ago and we are now buried in work which is good. But I am working 50+ hours a week. So I get up about 3am and get home about 7pm every night. 50+ hour weeks plus the added 2.5 hours a day in driving makes for very long work weeks and very short weekends.
Take care guys. Hope to be on a little more often.

I have had every water line off this whole system. Up until I had to rebuild the Whole motor for the bad crank bearing this scooter never had a cooling issue. I have a whole thread here on all the cooling modifications I have done to this thing since then. None of that has helped. My last resort was last week pulling the head and doing a new head gasket. That is when I noticed that the head gaskets did not line up with the water ports and looked to be cutting off about 50% of the water flow. I will have to look back threw all the pictures I took when I tore down the motor to rebuild it to see if the original gasket did the same thing.

Ok so I have been battling cooling issues ever since I had to replace the Crankshaft. So a week ago I decided to pull the top end back off and check it over. What I noticed is that the head gasket covers about half of the 2 main water ports. I put in the replacement and noticed it does the same thing. And of course same issue after about 5 miles running at 55 mph cruising speed it wants to climb above 195 in temp. Slow back down to 45 and can cruise all day at around 170.
So my question is. should I do a bit of port modification and bevel out the head and cylinder ports so that they allow more water through or should I try and modify the head gasket? I noticed this with 2 different gaskets not just 1, and the make of the gasket were different also. I am leaning more twards the head and cylinder port modification.

I have one I have never been able to get running right. I am at my last wits with it. Last thing I found is there is something going on with the wiring and draining the battery on me besides the not running right. So my last thing to do it completely strip all plastic off and go through all the wiring on it. That is a project for NEXT summer for me.

[replyingto=xuniter]xuniter[/replyingto]Mine did this once to me. It ended up being the Kill switch on the handle bar was a bit gunked up. flipped it back and forth a few times and used some contact cleaner on it and have not had a problem since.
