Hello everyone, i have been reading threads here for a long time but never posted anything until today. I have a Linhai 260 that seems to have a weak spark. Well first things first. I was going back home from work when suddenly it started to loose power and when i stopped it died, i have been waiting for a minute and started her, drove for 15 meters and it died again. After that it never started again. It has been 3 months since then. I replaced the stator, the ignition coil, pick-up coil and the spark plug. Check the grounds and still no spark. If i remove the spark plug cap and place the cable of the coil to near the engine a have a nice blue spark, but if i'ill place it on the spark plug, then the spark plug has a bit yellowish spark. I have checked the voltage that goes to ignition coil and it's 12.85V when the ignition is "ON" and when i crank the engine it drops to 8.33V. Is that normal? Also i have compression and fuel goes to cylinder. Any ideas?

[replyingto=xuniter]xuniter[/replyingto]Mine did this once to me. It ended up being the Kill switch on the handle bar was a bit gunked up. flipped it back and forth a few times and used some contact cleaner on it and have not had a problem since.

If taking the BOOT CAP off and you get a nice spark then do this: Unscrew the BOOT CAP off the COIL WIRE cut about 1/2 inch off the COIL wire to get nice clean wires and get a NEW BOOT CAP and screw the new one on. Alleyoop

Wait , I just re-read your1st post and you say when you crank the voltage drops to 8.8v THAT IS NOT GOOD. I believe your CDI is DC if so it is fed from the battery. So looks like the problem may just be a bad and or weak battery. Alleyoop

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Yes, the TCI is DC powered and it has 12.85 going to it when the is "ON",i checked the wires going to ignition coil and when i crank it drops to 8v.. The battery is new from a car. It has enough power to start a car.

Welcome.....charge the car battery. A fully charged battery should read around 14.2 volts or pretty close. A weak cell will cause that voltage drop you have. Replace battery with one that fits your scoot. Fully charge it when you get it....

[replyingto=tvnacman]tvnacman[/replyingto]what you mean? pulse from the pick up coil? yes, but i haven't check the voltage it gives to the CDI.
