Thanks JR, I learn something new, didn't know jumping diode the lights would come on even if the scoots not running (there is so much to learn).

If your scoot cranking over and charging good, your stator is good, (the headlights only come on after the scoot is running) I think the main control for the headlights comes through your R/R, check those ground wires. There should be another fuse in your relay, did you check that one out. Attachments:

This sputtering may have nothing to do with the first part of your problem, I'd check your vacuum lines and your intake clamps, check your ignition coil, they can work themselves loose and check the spark plug cap, make sure your getting contact at plug (I had problem with my scoot not wanting to start, turned out that the wire inside my spark plug cap was pushed aside not making contact). and of course if you have a lot of miles on scoot it may be time to adjust the valves.

Good insight JR, I agree 100% Before you make that important decision, do your homework and see where whoever you vote for stands on today's issues

I'd check all connections in your CDI and your fuses and connections to the fuse box, check the fuse in your relay. When shutting off, how did your scoot act, sputtering or just shut off without warning?
