Hi guys as you know I am from South Africa and will very possibly immigrate to the US in about two years. As a result I take a keen interest in your country. In fact I am reading a very thick university prescribed book on the American history. Now i think I lean towards been a republican but just to make sure i was sent this website address where you can check if you are a Rep, Demo, Green party or Libertarian. It is very interesting to take the quiz and I won't believe my final score because I am not familiar with things such as gay marriages, gun control or medicare in your country. But try it anyway. The website is .isidewith.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.isidewith.com

I vote with my head, not any given party. I am a registered Libertarian and about 85% of my views are shared by the Libertarian party according to this quiz.

Scootaway you've got a lot to learn about the political system in this country for sure and I'll start you're very first and most important and my only lesson in the subject. You mentioned the two main parties in this country and I might add the way you're leaning is an excellant choice. So this is how you quickly figure out and sum up American politics with a simple lesson in spelling. First question? What is the last 3 letters of REPUBLICAN?CAN Now what is the last 3 letters of DEMOCRAT?RAT Need I say more? JR

Excuse me, lady and gentlemen, but I thought we were to stay away from religion and politics in open class room discussions. That said, I am basically an Independent and vote for whom I think is the best man for the job. I do tend to agree with JR and especially Justbuggin. Now back to scooter talk.

Good insight JR, I agree 100% Before you make that important decision, do your homework and see where whoever you vote for stands on today's issues

They all lie no matter who they are, they just want the life of Riley and all the perks and especially the PENSIONS they will get. It is set up wrong once in they are basically lifers, not much of an incentive for them to do anything. It should be say 8 years and they have to be elected again. That way you can vote them out if they are not doing their job and vote a new person in and NO pensions. Threat them just like everybody else they have to save out of their own pockets in a 401K plan and the government just kicks in a percentage JUST LIKE all the big companies out there do. Alleyoop

SORRY BUT THIS WHOLE POST IS WRONG!
This is a very touchy subject that always that always goes south fast. (No pun intended JR)
I agree with Wolf, it's not a forum for politics, PERIOD!
JR, you know I respect you and all Mods here but this can go bad and cause problems.
Scootaway, I understand your question and why you might want to ask it here but I also know this is a subject that brings heated arguments and I don't believe that is your intent. Maybe you could PM a few members you know and ask it privately?
Just MHO, but I think thick this should be lock, please.

IDK
i dont see any arguments going on
this is NOT SD with a bunch of lil kids who think they know everything, and will argue, even after being proven wrong, and take things to a personal matter ie name calling
this is a group of respectful men and women who even tho they have different views will just state 'em and drop it not argue

madcollie i understand your concerns this is a topic that can get out of hand fast but i am seeing a bunch of people stating how they feel a person should look at the people in office and the ones running for office with good insight and humor
