HI JR, hope you had a good vacation, today I check the flow from gas tank to pump, it was good, took off the fuel pump and didn't see any gunk in it, so I put it back together and spray cleaner in the intake, scooter start for a few seconds and then shuts off, check fuel filter (it had gas in it). took off fuel filter and made sure it was clear of any gunk and sprayed carb cleaner and put back on. so I'm getting gas to pump and to fuel filter, but that's where it stops. That pump you recommend, would pump enough for my scoot?

Yes many people use this pump with no issues as it supplies plenty of fuel at that rate. You can also rebuild your old pump.

Richard I do not if this has been mentioned but by change the fuel filter is not in backwards is it? fuel filters do have a flow arrow on them and if they are put in backward flow they will not allow the fuel to flow through. Just a quick thought since you say you are getting gas from the tank to the filter but not any farther.

JR, I did watch carb cleaning 101, and I have a question. In big guy's video after he took out the main jet, he turned carb over and another part of the jet came out. When I took the main jet out, I had the top screw and then the main jet, nothing else was in my carb, hope that's not a problem.

Richard, the needle on your diaphragm fits in the main nozzle. When I clean my carb it stays up in my carb. The only thing that comes out is the main jet and main jet holder and my pilot jet and air/fuel mix screw. Could it be yours was there, just didn't fall out? If the beast used to run ok it has to be there as there is no where for it to go. I still am betting on my 1st guess days ago is that your pump is weak or possible gone now however I don't like to replace parts on a guess, I have to be sure. Keep looking, You will find it. A vacumn pump is only as good as its supply of vacumn so make sure your vacumn supply is good. Barnie

Hi Barnie, Taking the jets out of the carb and cleaning them was a first for me, some history of my scoot is from the day that I purchased her this shutting off problem has been an issues off and on for the last three years, I've replace all the vacuum lines, fuel lines, CDI, Ignition Coil, fuel filter, adjusted the float a long time ago, many valve adjustments, replace spark plug and spark plug cap, replaced my intake manifold (it was bad). And the usual things like brakes, tires. When I had carb off I didn't remember seeing that piece, I hit carb on work bench thinking another piece would come out, when it didn't come out I though for my scoot that was normal. If that piece is missing, would that make a difference? I only have trouble in the higher speeds. (I ordered a fuel pump anyway).

Richard, if you put the new pump on and you still have this high speed issue then with all the things you replaced we are going to look at other possible things that could cause this. Barnie is right, just the parts he listed are what make up this carb.

Thanks JR, I'm just getting frustrated I would like to solve this problem once and for all, I appreciate your help ;D Thanks Barnie for responding to my question, I've done a lot work and I can say I was well taught here on this forum, and I can do pretty much everything to my scoot, (taking out the jets, a new experience But I'm here to learn

Look into the AIR FILTER SIDE and see if you can see the NEEDLE GUIDE it should stick up about 1/8 of an inch. If you do not see it then your missing it. Alleyoop

Richard, u don't need to take carb off to see what alley is talking about. just loosen air box and move it back enough and use a small inspection mirror and small flashlite to see in carb to see it it is there. Did you buy this new or used and if new has this problem persisted from the start. From what u have replaced and ur steady maintenance this thing shuld run like a charm. With lots of care these are great scoots. Have u tried running it on an aalternative gravity flow fuel tank. That's about the only way u can tell with out buying a lot of parts u may not need if the engine and carb are ok. You did say that the scoot ran for a long time ok with wot being the bad main issue right? I just lean toward ur pump is just not performing and may never has. JR--what do u think. I am thinking either not enough vacumn from intake to pump (o-ring on eng side of intake or poss head gasket leaking little or valves not seating due to normal wear etc) or just a bad pump. Keep the faith Richard!! Barnie h
