I have been struggling with this a while now and going to need some advice. I used a harness from the donor scooter I bought for the engine . I really did not think I would have any problems but I don't seem to be charging. I have a 5 wire R/R it has a 4 pin plug and a separate red/white lead bullet connector. The other leads are pink, green, red, yellow. I have done tests to the cdi wires, and stator that seem to be fine. I have 5 wires out of my stator red/black,white,green,yellow,blue/white My understanding.. green....groung blue/white....trigger red/black....power to cdi white yellow ....are the ac gen ?
Is there a test for these two wires?
On the R/R the 4 pin plug was easy enough but the bullet conn I searched had no other lead in the harness. I feed it 12v switched
Any thought?

white and yellow go to cdi, yellow is a hot wire....it also splices into alot of ur electronics... as for my gy6 (non ruckus) and that i just learned the harness over the last couple of days. on my r/r red goes to battery (some scooters its tied in with the in line fuse to the battery (this red wire is ur charging wire) ur gonna need to find out on ur ruckus harness which is the correct wire and run it with the gy6..... hope this helps some!!!

my yellow and white go to my r/r and the white actually turns to pink in the harness... the red wire at the r/r has batt voltage with key off but the red wire with the white tracer(bullet connector) is the one in question as to where that is to go?

First of all Welcome to the Forum! Question? Are you trying to use the OEM R/R that came with the Rukus? Or are you using the 5-wire R/R that came with the donor engine? If so by looking at the Rukus wiring diagram the single wire you are refering to is going to the stator and looks like to me the Rukus is a 3 phase stator. If so then the OEM R/R will not work with this GY-6 engine because you stator is the standard single phase stator. You could use it if you decided to upgrade to a 11-pole stator. Now if this is the R/R from the donor scooter then typically the 5th wire goes to the ignition key switch and is black and this wire does one thing anf it reads the voltage on the battery or load and the R/R regulates it's output by the readings on this wire. Typically the 5 pin R/R is; white or pink = stator AC feed yellow = stator AC feed red = dc charge voltage to the battery green = ground black = feed to key ignition. If this is the R/R from the donor scooter and it has a 5th red/white wire if I know the scooter I may be able to find a diagram and see what is goes to? If you can tell me this then I'll know more what to do. JR

its the RR from the donor and so is the harness. the RR has a 6pin plug with 4 wires in it and the separate red/white with the female bullet connector the wires in the plug are pink, green, red, yellow the harness has the other end of this plug so that was easy but I still followed them through the harness but not sure where the "xtra" wire goes? I did try ign power but still don't have the voltage increase to 14.2 that I'm looking for.I pulled the plug on my stock ruckus lights so the draw is min 13.2 to 13.3 is the reading when idle or rev....

OK I've done some research and my next question is what was your dodnor scooter and/or engine? If you answer what I think you're going to then we may have a problem but I'll wait until you do to be sure.
This R/R you have is rare and with your description it also does not charge well. The lights should run off of the stator and not through the R/R but again I'm waiting for your answer on what scooter this is?
The R/R you're describing goes on but one scooter that I've found so far and if it is the scooter I'm suspecting then the red/white bullet connector wire you are refering to goes to the autochoke.
With a very good and fully charged battery you can expect around 13.8 volts max again if this is the scooter I'm thinking that you used for a donor.
Let me know and I'll go from there.

The scooter I used is a Eagle 150 ( Best I can figure) I have measured the red/white lead and had like maybe 6.8-7.5 volts. I thought that I saw a picture of a posting here that someone recieved whith a GY6 motor they bought the same RR I have.If I need to change out the stator/RR I'm not against it to have a good charging system and the ability to power up a gps. I just was on a mission to start with a working swap before changing to much.

Here is the standard 150cc stator set-up... Are you certain it ia an 11pole stator? Are there 3 yellow wires? If it is only an 8 pole with one white and one yellow then the charge AC comes from the stator on the white wire goes to the RR and coms out the RR on the red wire to the battery. So check with a multimeter that you have voltage on the white. If you do, and no voltage on the red then your R/R is defective... Generally I tell people that replace engines to put the stator from old engine onto te new engine and use the old flywheel as well There are a coule of 8 and 6 pole stator wirings and if you get a mismatch with the R/R you will have weird voltage problems. Most often the headlights won't be bright or grow dim on idle or the battery gets no charge voltage... hth Attachments:

I have 5 wires coming out of the Stator.......I checked the ac out on the white to ground and the yellow to ground and had 20+ volts while cranking
Scooter was a "retro" style Eagle

Hey Sprocket. He has thast odd R/R like on the Lifan the link on dawg where you and the fellow there discovered this very odd R/R, it's standard as far as the white and yellow, actually the white is pink but it has the 5th single red/white wire. according the poster on that thread the red/white went to the autochoke?
I only suggested he look at this 11 pole stator set up if he wants a lot more power. His scooter is acting just like what you said yours was doing in that past thread on dawg.

On mine the red and white powers the enricher as I recall...it goes up to the harness and there is a red plug on the carb and the enricher plugs in there...

Here is my R/R ...red, pink(same as white), green(ground), yellow, black He could have the a floating type stator when he needs a grounded type with a center tap yellow Attachments:

I have 5 wires coming out of the Stator.......I checked the ac out on the white to ground and the yellow to ground and had 20+ volts while cranking Scooter was a "retro" style Eagle OK that's standard a 3 plug; green = ground yellow = AC to R/R White = AC to R/r 2 single bullet connectors; red/black = AC feed to CDI white/blue or red/white = pick up coil to CDI Now is this what you have on the R/R because I'm beginning to get a little confused? yellow white or pink green red and a single red/white bullet connector wire? Or does it have a black wire like Sprocket's too? Does this look like your R/R? .partsprousa.com/product_info.php?products_id=12810403" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.partsprousa.com/product_info.php?products_id=12810403Your stator is putting out correctly. Here is my R/R ...red, pink(same as white), green(ground), yellow, black He could have the a floating type stator when he needs a grounded type with a center tap yellow If it's the standard gy-6 stator set up it's not a floating ground if he has a green wire on the 3 plug? So your R/R is actually a 6-wire setup? 5 wires on the main plug and a sixth single red/white wire that goes to the autochoke? The black should go to the ignition? Can't see the red/white wire on that picture? JR
