Glad your back cc. I grew up in PA.near the pgh area. toured Hershey as a child (the chocolate plant). My son (lifer in airforce) is stationed in NJ. But he gets out of the Airforce in 5 years (20 years in). He is planning to move back to PA (pgh area) when he retires from the Airforce and when he does, I am moving back also, So I will be back in PA in 5 years. I like PA it is a nice state to live in. (I do hate the snow and the winter though.)

As some of you know, I got out of the hospital about a week ago, then my family came to visit this week and they just left. I was in the hospital because I suddenly lost the ability to walk. Scans of my back showed that my osteoarthritis of the spine had worsened. I have it from the top of my cervical spine to the base of my lumbar spine. Spondelosis has lots of bony prominences pressing on my nerves. Well, a week of IV decadron (steroids), did away with all the swelling and I now can walk again. yea!!!! So what was the first thing I did, as soon as I was up to it? Why, I rode Fred, of course. Everything is not as bad as it sounds. I will just have to take steroids occassionally. My docs feel they can handle it medically now, but tell me, sometime in the not too far future, I will have to have back surgery. They will do the lumbar area first, then do the thorasic next, then later still the neck. So I am a very lucky lady. At least it is fixable. But, I am giving up my part time job and going on full retirement. So money is going to be tight. But that is the way it is with many seniors. By no means am I alone. And double deck pinocele (spelled wrong) and canasta with friends is free along with a number of other things like public parks and of course,, riding Fred. And of course family. So I intend to enjoy the "golden years" starting at the ripe young age of 62. My doctors also started me on a drug called Lyrica. It is actually an anti-seizure medication but it has been found to work beautifully on pain from pinched nerves in the back and on peripheral neuropathy. And it does. Any of you that have these conditions, ask your doc about it because Lyrica really does lessen the pain. (We have a lot of us "old foggies" here). and then WE RIDE!!!!!!!

Well, My family packed up today and left at about 2:30 for New Jersey. Away went all the toys, babydolls, trucks, trains, cradles, hamster and hamster houses (the fake ones that are motorized to go through the plastic mazes). Out to the garbage went the garbage bag of dirty diapers. Out went all the baby stuff. Air mattresses were deflated,, sheets washed and folded and put in the linen closet. I HAVE MY WHOLE HOUSE BACK!!!!!! But boy, is it quiet here. I miss their sweet little faces and voices already. But, by the same token, I am enjoying the quiet. Am I conflicted? lol

I truly was going to send money, then I ended up in the hospital. I have been off work (with no pay) since july 1st and I don't even have enough money to meet my monthly bills right now. MC, some of us just don't have it. I am very fond of pj and have even helped him write his papers at school, but right now, I really am broke.

zug, so sorry to hear that. I just sold my little roketa mc 74 about 2 weeks ago. She only had 759 miles on her and I sold her to a neighbor for 260 dollars. Had your bike been stolen before I sold my bike, I would have gladly let you have it instead. Ohio and PA arent that far apart. I wish it would have happened like that. well, no point in worrying about your bike now. save thru the winter and get one next spring. I hate people who are so wrapped up in themselves that they do not for one moment consider how their actions will make someone else feel. I hope whoever stole it receives bad karma until he dies, or repents and becomes a better person.

I never watch TV either. I only watch desperate housewives and I occasionally watch the news channel. I have never watched daytime soap operas or talk shows. But just like the rest of you, I also had the TV on that day. Strange how we all did. Any way, I just couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. To this day, when I look at pictures, I want to bomb every alcida member in the world (which would be impossible to do without killing a lot of innocent people). For those who were in the buildings and around the buildings, but lived through the horror, I feel especially sorry. How awful their memories must be. We will never forget.

My 54B 250 will go 80 miles per hour at wide open throttle on the level highway. I tried it once (briefly). I was very uncomfortable on the interstate. I go every where on my scoot. It can handle a trip all the way from Ohio to Florida if I wanted to. If I did that, I would use my GPS and take regular roads. I will not go on the interstate or highway. I am comfortable with speeds up to 55 mph. After that, it is me, not my bike, who can't take the high speeds.

Oh zugzug, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I remember how I felt last fall when someone drilled out my ignition trying to hotwire my bike. Boy was I angry (Insurance covered the repair though). It it a terrible world for scooter riders when it comes to theft. The funny thing I noticed though ,is that motorcycles don't get stolen as much. But a Scooter seems to be an open invitation to crappy, dishonest people and the world is loaded with people like that.
I think that maybe it is because most people view scooters as toys but they view motorcycles as a legitimate mode of transportation. But scooter owners view their scooters as a cheap mode of transportation just like motorcycles. It is all so unfair.
And to add to your frustration, having tools stolen makes it even worse. Your insurance should cover the replacement of the tools also. Don't forget to add them to your claim.
It was in the autumn when my bike was vandelized also. So sorry for you. Hope it all gets straightened out soon and you either get your bike back, or get a new one.

Bong, thanks for asking. Hand is doing wonderful. still swollen some, but swelling has lessened. movement is to the point where it only hurts by late afternoon or evening. It is coming along much better than I expected and while my dexterity isn't back to normal again, I can type with both hands!!!!. Fred is doing great. I am going to PT for my back now and I rode Fred to and from PT today. That gave the therapist a bit of a laugh. How is everything going with you Bong?

Well, My son, his wife, and my grandchildren Colton age 3 months, Ryan age 2, and Katelyn age 4, will arrive from Mississippi and converge upon my house somewhere between 4 PM and 6 PM. They are visiting for about 5 days. My son is a PA (Physicians Assistant, masters degree) in the Airforce. He has been serving for the past 18 years. The airforce is transfering him to New Jersey and he has some leave now. He will probably deploy to the middle east sometime in the next year so I am really glad to have this chance to visit with my family. The airforce has been good to my son and his family but I am not relishing the thought of the middle east. I keep hoping everything will be over before he gets sent but that does not seem likely. I currently have homade pepperoni bread baking in the oven. We are having home made spagetti tonight along with the bread and a salad. My daughter and her husband and 3 children will be here for dinner also So I will have a full house. Even though we are of Irish and Swedish heritage and all blonds, believe me, It will be like an Italian and Irish gathering of the clan tonight and a great time is expected to be had by all!!!!!

Good idea Bobf. I have a little trickle charger that hooks up easily. What is the difference between a trickle charger and a Battery tender JR?

got Fred started and was able to do some scootin. Felt good. He finally responded. This is a great time of the year in Ohio. But it seems we are going to have an early fall. Oh well.. Back is feeling better, hand is feeling better. Activities to do, places to go, people to see.
Am planning on winterizing my bike properly this year (not yet)! So I won't have start up problems in the spring.
