By request I am reposting this thread here. Many of you are members of both forums and know PJ of Scooter Doc.
Hello all,
Those that have been around a while know me, those that are new just call me M/C, a S.P.I.T.A! Anyways, we have a bad situation here! You may not be aware of the fact that we may lose a member of our family. Puddle Jumper is in a VERY bad way right now and needs our help. ALL MEMBERS NEEDED!
This young man has been dealt a rough hand to play in life and that life may be cut short. I would like to share some of an e-mail sent to me by our friend...
#1 "Sorry haven't email ya in a while things are ok and keep on gettin it and not slow me down but the heat has takes a ton out of me and I have to rest in order not to end up in the hospital."
"I was accepted into Nova Fairfax kidney program so time is of the essence. About the only thing I need now is for a check in the mail with anytype of dollar amount the government or anyone would give me so I can pay bills and have food on the table. I do get assistance but..."
"I'll keep ya posted and tell Rich that I'm well and post any of this on there for the others. Talk soon I haven't forgot about you."
#2 "No problem old friend, things are doing ok. One of my chair buddies at dialysis has asked me to move in with her(no I'm not even thinking about any of that lol) and it will be cheaper for me to live and actually able to have a little money to keep me going and its a good thing I'll actually have home cooked meals instead of what ever I can afford. I'll let you go I promise that this situation in high spirits nothing gona let me down no way."
There is no way I can read this and not be touched so here is MY CHALLENGE TO ALL MEMBERS!!!! SHOW YOU CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can go without a double latte for 1 day, If you can get a regular instead of super sized once, If you don't need that extra dough-nut in the morning..
I will MATCH every $$ to help our member up to $10 per person and a max of $400! Sorry folks but I'm just a blue collar worker and not rich. DON'T send anything to me, I don't want it send it where it will do good, PJ!
PJ, you tell me and I'll double my help by that amount. DUDE, we want you posting here for a LOOOOONNNNGGGGG time!
NOW THOSE WHO HAVE THE BRASS, PLEASE HELP AND I'LL SPEND MY HARD EARNED PAY TO MATCH IT!
M/C

M/C I know puddle jumpers situation. He is a really great guy and we all enjoy him. I know that he is on the list for a kidney (he needs one very badly). His health is very poor due to his chronic renal failure. It affects every organ. He has to eat a special diet and be very careful of the amount of fluid he drinks or he can overload his system and go into congestive heart failure with fluid in his lungs also. He lives a very hard life because of his kidney failure. Renal dialysis is a very uncomfortable thing to have to go through. Tons of side effects including nausea, lethargy (tiredness), head aches, muscle cramping, etc. Yet he still manages to keep his spirits up. He has been waiting for a kidney for a long time. A new kidney will save his life.
I am not sure how it works, because in my long career as a Registered Nurse, I never worked in the organ donation program. But I am sure that it could be arranged. If there is anyone out there who has 2 healthy kidneys (you only need one to live normally), testing for compatability can be done. The kidneys are one of the organs that can be donated by a live donor. Unfortunately, very few people volunteer to donate and we can all understand why. What pj needs is a new kidney-desperately. I wish I could give him one of mine. (My health won't allow it- doctors won't do it because of my heart problems.
I truly wish I could send a monetary donation but right now, because of my hand, I am not working and I am broke. I have just enough to pay my bills each month til I get back to my part time job. I pray for puddle jumper. I promise that as soon as my hand is well enough to go back to work, I will donate.
M/C, what you are doing is a very admirable thing. You will be blessed

Seems like PJ has taken a new kind of spill As I've said before, Just let me know how I can help!!!! Seems he has had a real tough couple of weeks. Pj has shown no weakness even after his scoot did. Seriously, If any of us can help, let us!!!! I think we can at least pitch in for a new set of tires.

I now have an address to send any help you can. Just send me a PM I'll get back to you.
I will NOT put it on open forum because you never know what is lurking out there and PJ doesn't need any scum bags showing up at his door.
Thanks in advance to all that do what they can!

Thanks M/c. for the address. I will donate to the cause. I pray that God blesses PJ with a kidney real quickly. But pj will have post op recovery and be unable to work for a while so even after his surgery he is going to need help financially, physically, and emotionally.

Puddle Jumper has reminded me of another way that is so very easy to do that even the kids can pitch in. There are many charities that collect the pull tabs from the tops of aluminum soda cans (not the whole can, just the tabs). They use these for such things as breast cancer, veterans, Lyons clubs, Ronald McDonald House, and YES KIDNEY DIALYSIS! PJ says he can get 1 minute of treatment for each tab!!! Now there is way for everyone reading this to do something to help. I started doing it many years ago just for kicks until I found out about the good they do. I now do it without thinking and every time I get a good supply of them someone collecting for a charity will stop into a local bar and ask if the the bar would mind collecting from the cans they sell. I haven't heard 1 bar turn any charity down yet. It's simple to do, any age can do it, and best of all any aluminum can will work, even BEER cans! So go have a drink and do someone some good. M/C

M/C can someone donate their tabs to go to a certain person in this case PJ? Is so then we could rack up some serious time for him 1000 tabs = 16.66 hours!

JR, that one hell of a question and because I'm not even sure how the good folks who collect them work their magic I'll see what I can find out. I an sure that PJ would care what charity you gave them to ( because he's that kind of person) but I was wondering the same thing. I'd love to see the look he got if he went into treatment with about 10,000 tabs and said "will this cover it?"
I'll send an e-mail to him for more details but folks, please be patient with the guy. He's been through hell and is still going.

Disappointing, very disappointing. I guess most people only want the free help for themselves and to hell with helping those in need. M/C

Well all I can say is thank you to the 2 members (Alleyoop & JR) that actually did a darn thing to help out a fellow scooterist. You guys deserve a big atta boy!
Because of the pitiful response, I decided to match any help that was sent and believe me it wasn't much! I am well aware of the hard times everyone is facing but get real real, 2, 3, 5 bucks? Unreal how much you'll blow in a day on yourself but not a dime for a fellow friend.
PITIFUL!
