Well, I see it happen over and over again with the 54B. It sat for 2 weeks without being started because I was in the hospital for a week (bad back) and then unable to ride for a week due to back healing. I usually heal pretty fast and I am good to go now. Hand is also coming along nicely (IV steriods do a lot more for swelling than PT!) Unfortunately, my Fred is not ready to go. It does the proverbial growl and almost but not turn over. So I am going to get some quick start and try try try. Weather hear is in the 60's and perfect for riding. Hope I can get Fred going.

lol, I am still impressed. Someone had to build it. You could put a lounge chair on top of it and have the steering wheel come up between the seat and the foot rest! Now that would be driving in comfort and you would have the added benefit of the lounge chair seat being warmed for you!!!
BTW, I know its a joke! Now back to my original question, how fast will that thing go?

How very clever Alleyoop. Why dont you just put a lounge chair on top of it. That way, you could extend your feet! Seriously though, I am impressed. How fast will that thing go?

Welcome from across the water! Guess when I bought and rode a scooter for the first time? When I was 61! You are still a pup! Our department of motor vehicles here in the states has a 3 day motorcycle saftey course. I took it. It was good. If they have something similar in Scotland, I would suggest you take it. I learned a lot.
I have a 250 cc cheap chinese (lol) bike. A roketa 54B. Love it. Btw, You found the best forum on the net as far as scooters are concerned. JR (site owner and admin) is a genius when it comes to bike maintance and repair. Welcome!

Hey, It will be a while before I attempt a cross the city journey. Too painful... However, I told my physical therapist about it and squeezing the brake is good physical therapy for my hand. So now I am going to go out every day, sit on Fred for a while (you're right Bong, somehow that does sound like it has a sexual conotation to it,,lol) and work the brake while my bike is on the center stand. Just sitting there is boring though. But I figure by september I should have much better strength and less pain. So onward!!!!

Oh my gosh. I would have never thought this would be possible. Why did that thing not twist in the middle and fall over? Can't even understand how you could balance it. Can anyone explain the physics behind that? I am truly amazed.

Ok my engine is a cyrus 250 (linhai clone). I filled up from empty to full today. It took 2.5 gallons, exactly. Bike is a 54B. I wish I had a 3 gallon tank. I would have to fill up more often. I'm back to riding (only short distances due to hand, but hey, that's better than I thought. I thought I would be done for the season!

I rode my bike! I only rode it less than a mile to church for choir practice, then back. My right hand hurt like a son-of-a-gun, but I was able to squeeze the brake and I rode. Oh, It felt so great to be in the wind again! But the pain level of my hand, without pain pills is all the way up there between a 7 and 8. With pain pills, it is down to about a 4. It constantly feels like it is badly burned (no, there are no burns). My doctor tells me that this is nerve damage and that it will go away eventually. It takes a long time to go away, months- he said. so I am just going to have to live with it. But, boy, it felt good to ride again!

I agree with Bong. If I had the cash, I would buy a trike TODAY!!!!! But alas, I don't. When I finally get back to my part time job,, I think I will save for a trike. Alleyoop, I am happy for you. Rapid Jim did a good job for you. Enjoy that trike and drive safely.

Bong, Do you mind if I ask how old you are? Bifocal age? (usually anyone over 40). I read a little rhyme when I was a child that used to make me laugh. Now, because most of it applies to me,, it isn't quite as funny:
My bifocals are wonderful, My dentures fit just fine, My hearing aids do help me hear But Lord, I miss my mind!

Still swollen but less bruised and red. not as angry looking. still hurts but I am getting the ability to squeeze again. (Hurts like the dickens to do it). Thumb won't bend at all. Fingers progressing nicely. Back to typing with 2 hands but it hurts. Grip is still weak.
But:Glory Hallelujah. Praise God! I am able to move the throttle and squeeze the break. Hurts like a son of a gun. Thinking about taking scoot for a spin but still afraid to because grip is so weak. If (when stopped) for any reason, bike started to fall, I would never be able to keep it upright because grip is so weak. So maybe I should wait a while.
