Luke, I do know what you mean about traveling. I have 2 dogs and many times I have wanted to take off on my bike and visit friends in another state (I am retired except for a part-time job so this would be very possible). But I can't because of my dogs. It is like having children. My only option is to put the dogs in a kennel while I am gone but that is so expensive and I am not wealthy.
Take the dog obedience classes. You and your wife will learn so much about the way dogs think, how to be the alpha dog which means you are the boss. not the dogs, your dogs will no longer jump on either of you, they will walk beside you and they will listen to you. Heck Luke, your dogs can even be trained to get the newspaper and bring it to you, or even get you a beer from the refrig while you sit watching a game on TV. lol
As far as traveling. Call the vet and ask what dosage of dramamine is the right amount for your dog for a short trip. (It is travel sickness medicine available over the counter. If you call your vet with your dogs weight, he should tell you the correct dosage over the phone, no need to pay for an office visit.) The dog will no longer throw up. Also, some time when you and your wife have off, take the dogs for a short trip to a fenced in dog park. Take a ball along with you. And water for the dogs and drinks for both of you. Then go home later. Put the dogs in their room, and you and your wife go out to dinner and see a movie. It will really help you in your relationship

Hammerspur, you have beautiful dogs. I was just joking when I said the looked 'ruff. Get it? ruff ruff as in bark bark.
yes, people are superior to animals. But people are also compassionate and caring, especially if the love the Lord, and have the Holy Ghost in them. We are supposed to care for each other, and everyone on earth who is fortunate enough to be wealthy, should, in some way, be helping those who are less fortunate because of disease and/or circumstances. But that does not mean that we should not be kind to animals. The Bible does say that animals are here for mans enjoyment. But that does not mean just to eat. Animals are companionship for many lonely people. Animals have been proven to help seniors live longer. Animals help the hearing impaired, the blind, the deaf. As higher and superior beings it is our duty to care for lesser beings. They deserve our care, including medical. You can't just think, "I will not take my sick dog to the vet, I will let him suffer, because there are starving children in India". That does not make sense. You own the animal, you are responsible for that animal.
Anyone who would tie a dog to a leash and leave it in the back yard is CRUEL. I stand firm on that and will not sugar coat it for anyone. Dogs are social beings. How would you like to be islolated from everyone, in the cold, snow, heat, sun? Do you think Jesus approves of that behavior? It is not right for people to have to suffer. It is horrible. But if you own and animal you need to be responsible for it.
Now, as far as God and the Bible, in the last battle in heaven at end times, where the saints are battleing the devil, does the bible not talk about Christ riding a white horse? yes it does. Animals are innocent, but the are creatures of God. And they will be in heaven.
Luke, there are many people who feel as you do. They don't want dogs in their homes due to fur. (Animals that are properly housebroken, do not pee in the house). A person who resents animals that strongly should not have one. To keep it in the back yard is cruel. Now, you have a dilema because your wife loves the dogs. Your only answer to this solution, is for you to get over and accept the dogs,(if you really love your wife), or get a divorce. Anything else, will never solve the problem, because if you make your wife get rid of her dogs or you mistreat the dogs, your wife will deeply resent you,. That may sound like a hard lesson, but I at least have the courage to give it to you straight.
PS. You can say "I want "her" out" on any site you want to. It does not bother me. I am a real Christian and I forgave you a while back. I hope that you can get over your feelings of hatred, for whatever reason, because they are not good for your stomach (ulcers) or your soul. I mean this sincerely. I do hope you will feel better. And I wish you the best of luck with the dog situation. I will add you to my prayers.
Now, can we please turn this thread back to what it was intended for? Happy, funny, spoofs of animals? TO LUKE: Modified 30 minutes later: Divorce is not the answer, God doesn't want anyone to divorce over dogs. It would be contrary to Biblical teachings. Your only choice, Luke, is to accept your wifes love for her dogs. If you don't, resentment will follow. Some compromise on her part would be necessary but, for the most part, the most healthy thing for you and your marriage would be to accept her dogs. Maybe you could confine them to one room like a family room when they are in the house. You could put covers on the furniture in the family room so you would't have to worry about shedding. Maybe you could buy dog beds and put them on the floor of the bedroom? And the very best advice I can give.- Both you and your wife (together) enroll and participate in a dog obedience class with your dogs. You can have a dog (or 2 dogs) that behave like that dog in the park. I would suggest a beginners class (it takes homework to accomplish it). then after the dogs master that, I would suggest an intermediate class. Both you and your wife will be happy with the results. Do not beat your dog into submission. You don't even have to yell. But you and your wife will learn how to convey to your dogs that you are the master. Give it a try

Thanks Bong. I think its been around for a while. But it is so enjoyable, especially if you are a dog lover (which I am). Dogs really do understand a lot of English. Some studies done recently suggest that dogs, like children, learn our language over time and are capable of understanding the vocabulary equivalent of a 5 year old. So, I imagine, if they had the ability to talk, this little video would be a realistic demonstration of what communication with our dogs would be like. Sometimes I can tell what snook-ums and scooter are thinking just by the expressions on their faces and their body language! lol. Thanks for posting, Bong!
Hammerspur, I agree with you. Those guys look very ruff! lol

m/c I see your point! If you stay a fresh man, you stay young - don't age at all. (unless you just keep flunking lol!)

Today is the perfect day here for scooting. It is only 77 degrees and cloudy. Oh how I wish I could scoot!
Its nice to have cooler weather though. We have had a hot, humid, sunny ozone thin summer!

Thanks M/c. for the address. I will donate to the cause. I pray that God blesses PJ with a kidney real quickly. But pj will have post op recovery and be unable to work for a while so even after his surgery he is going to need help financially, physically, and emotionally.

Wow, that is wonderful that your grandson is doing so well at football. (It must be all those healthy vegatables that you are feeding him)! Grandchildren are such a joy. I am so glad that you and your wife had the space and enough love to take those sweet children in. I know one thing- they will get a good upbringing with you. (God works in mysterious ways).

M/C I know puddle jumpers situation. He is a really great guy and we all enjoy him. I know that he is on the list for a kidney (he needs one very badly). His health is very poor due to his chronic renal failure. It affects every organ. He has to eat a special diet and be very careful of the amount of fluid he drinks or he can overload his system and go into congestive heart failure with fluid in his lungs also. He lives a very hard life because of his kidney failure. Renal dialysis is a very uncomfortable thing to have to go through. Tons of side effects including nausea, lethargy (tiredness), head aches, muscle cramping, etc. Yet he still manages to keep his spirits up. He has been waiting for a kidney for a long time. A new kidney will save his life.
I am not sure how it works, because in my long career as a Registered Nurse, I never worked in the organ donation program. But I am sure that it could be arranged. If there is anyone out there who has 2 healthy kidneys (you only need one to live normally), testing for compatability can be done. The kidneys are one of the organs that can be donated by a live donor. Unfortunately, very few people volunteer to donate and we can all understand why. What pj needs is a new kidney-desperately. I wish I could give him one of mine. (My health won't allow it- doctors won't do it because of my heart problems.
I truly wish I could send a monetary donation but right now, because of my hand, I am not working and I am broke. I have just enough to pay my bills each month til I get back to my part time job. I pray for puddle jumper. I promise that as soon as my hand is well enough to go back to work, I will donate.
M/C, what you are doing is a very admirable thing. You will be blessed

Thanks for the email recipe, Jr. I had seen the recipe for the pie, it looks yummy. However, I am trying to loose a few pounds, so do you know of anything without sugar?
