Well, looks like I'm out of scooters for a while again. She got stolen last night. I put a new agm battery in it, new belt, went thru the electrics and cleaned and greased everything. Removed the emmissions crap and put new hoses etc. Had most of my tools, a tire plug kit and air pump under the seat. I'm quite PO'ed. After getting it running great I rode over to my GF house thats about 2 miles away and stayed the night. Woke up this morning and she was gone. I oonly got to ride her 2 friggin miles after all the work before some buttwipes stole the darn thing.

What in the world is going on?!!! It seems this crap is happening all the time!

I kind of thought this was a little overboard but with this I'm thinking we all got to get a big chain to protect our scooters.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I can recommend to install alarm. I bought couple of alarms from ebay and they cost about $7-10 each. And you can choose different sensitivity. 110dB should scare a little
Cheap and fully working system. I even put one on my wifes moped scooter.

Yeah I called the police and did a report as soon as I realized it was stolen. It had an alarm on it but Im not sure if I had it set or not because I just put the battery in it and didnt have instructions for the alarm. It was a factory alarm and looked quite simular to the one posted in the link above.

Oh zugzug, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I remember how I felt last fall when someone drilled out my ignition trying to hotwire my bike. Boy was I angry (Insurance covered the repair though). It it a terrible world for scooter riders when it comes to theft. The funny thing I noticed though ,is that motorcycles don't get stolen as much. But a Scooter seems to be an open invitation to crappy, dishonest people and the world is loaded with people like that.

I think that maybe it is because most people view scooters as toys but they view motorcycles as a legitimate mode of transportation. But scooter owners view their scooters as a cheap mode of transportation just like motorcycles. It is all so unfair.

And to add to your frustration, having tools stolen makes it even worse. Your insurance should cover the replacement of the tools also. Don't forget to add them to your claim.

It was in the autumn when my bike was vandelized also. So sorry for you. Hope it all gets straightened out soon and you either get your bike back, or get a new one.

Zugzug, sorry to hear about your lost, what kind of a scooter was it? I have a 2008 Roketa scooter 250cc, I take mine to work second trick, I chain it and set the alarm, even that I try to keep my eye on it. I'll be praying that someone will found your scooter.

I only had liability on it so theres no insurance coverage for it being stolen or for the tools. All it covers is if the thief goes on a crash spree it covers whatever they damage. I doubt it will be recovered and if it is it will be trashed. Its been a big problem down in Philly but I didnt think they would be out this far stealing scoots.

Oh to add to the problem the tag place screwed up the vin when they did the paperwork so it wouldnt even show up in thier system. So even if they catch someone on it they probably wont arrest them or confiscate the scoot because they dont know what part of the vin # was mis entered and dont want to falsely arrest someone.

I guess I will call it a lost cause and take my lumps and move on

zug, so sorry to hear that. I just sold my little roketa mc 74 about 2 weeks ago. She only had 759 miles on her and I sold her to a neighbor for 260 dollars. Had your bike been stolen before I sold my bike, I would have gladly let you have it instead. Ohio and PA arent that far apart. I wish it would have happened like that. well, no point in worrying about your bike now. save thru the winter and get one next spring. I hate people who are so wrapped up in themselves that they do not for one moment consider how their actions will make someone else feel. I hope whoever stole it receives bad karma until he dies, or repents and becomes a better person.

Hey good news. The Phila Police recovered my scoot and arrested someone. Thats all the info I have right now but they supposed to call me back when I can pick it up.

Zug - glad to hear it. I went to an auction yesterday where they were selling some scoots. I worried about titles but they were brand new with MCO's. The dealer was from up M/C's way. Don't know why he came all the way down here to sell them.

Just thought I would give an update. I finally took a day off so I could go down and pic the scoot up since they are closed by time I get off work. I shoulda just went to work :/ The scoot was beat to crap. Most of the plastics are cracked, seats broken where they ripped it open to steal the tools, tail lights busted. Theres scrapes on the bottom pan and frame of concrete like curbs are made of. They musta been jumping curbs with it. It looks like they were trying to trash it on purpose. I brought it home and there it sits. I just dont have the desire to mess with it right now.
