Welcome, Rockrider. And congratulations on being our 1000th new member. This is perhaps the most friendly scooter forum going.

Excuse me, lady and gentlemen, but I thought we were to stay away from religion and politics in open class room discussions. That said, I am basically an Independent and vote for whom I think is the best man for the job. I do tend to agree with JR and especially Justbuggin. Now back to scooter talk.

MC, I am saving my pennies but it will be next Spring before I make the decision. I may have to sell off one of my other rides. Sold my Tomos this past summer and may sell my hot rod TGB Del. 50. With a few slight 'adjustments' it can now hit 50 on the speedo, probably a true 45. I will keep my R9i hack as the Stella accepts the Cozy if I want to go that route. As for pix, my wife will have to teach me and her time is quite limited due to her job, her dog show judging, and collectable interests (Read that as FiestaWare). And my dislike of learning new tricks doesnt help.

Written in 2010 before they were coming in due to EPA problems. I have read that top speed is around 60 but can go all day at 55-60. the 2012 and 2013 models are said to have a bit more power. MPG is betwen 90 & 100 mpg, not bad at all. For my purposes it would be fast enough. My hack set up runs 50/55 and can hit 65 on a downhill grade. My D150 runs 55/64 and my modded D50 runs 45/50 under the right circumstances. I have read this article before and with a few exceptions seems to be what other writers think of it. It is a bit pricy, $3700.00 this year and accessories are not cheap. But I do like the retro style and ease of getting to engine. If I get one it will be next spring when my finances are a bit better. Thanks, JR, for investigating the machine.

One last thing and then I will shut up!!! While I dont like the 10" wheels I do like the fact that they appear to be easy to remove and replace the tires when worn. The spare also fits front or rear axles.

Genuine is the importer. Some of their line is made in Taiwan. Having 3 Taiwan built rigs I feel that Taiwan makes good units. So far all my research indicates that 90% of the postings are positive. 2 things that are attractive to me is the easy access to the engine and the 4 speed tranny. Things that I dont like is the 10" wheels but I have ridden some rigs with that side wheel and they handle good for the most part. And there is a noticable lack of storage space. You can get a chrome rear and front rack and strap stuff down but they are not cheap.

It is made in India by a company that once made Vespas for Piaggio. They inherited the works when Piaggio left and have been making these units ever since as I understand it by agreement from Piaggio. I have been doing a lot of research on the Stella. It is a true 4 speed unit. It can also acept the Indian made Cozy side car that I have. Actually it is almost a cult scoot as it is made to the original Vespa design, easily accesseed motor on one side and spare tire on the other. Powered by a GY6 engine that puts out a little over 8 hp. There is a dealer in Marrietta, GA that I bought my Cozy from who stocks them. Not quite ready to commit but strongly considering it.

Any one here had any experience with this scoot. It is 150 cc, 4 speed, manual shift scoot made in India and imported by Genuine Scooter Co. It is a rebadged Vespa model.

Is this guy for real??? I visit Asheville, NC, where I was raised, often to visit my sons and see a lot of 50cc scoots struggling with the intown steep hills. This guy should move up there and share his immense knowledge with the scootering public there. Having reread his posting I think this is a great 'put on' by a troll with nothing better to do in life.

PS: The seller has added a few extras and that may be why he is asking a grand on the 2008 model.

Kelly Blue Book on this scoot at retail is $850.00, trade in value is $520.00. Info is easy to find, KellyBlueBook .com. KBB does list Chinese scoots such as Roketa, Tank, and others. Once they are popular enough they get listed is my guess. I agree with JR, 8 bills would be a good offer. But I am a little uncomfortable with the claim of $1000.00 being the KBB value. It pays to be careful when buying on Craigslist. Take a friend with you and set up a meeting in a public place.

You have made a good point, Prof. Around here we have many deer and I always keep an eye out for them at night. At night if they are on the side of the road and your lights hit them they will see their shadow and jump away from it and right into the road. In SGA I had that happen 3 times. Leaves can be as bad as sand or gravel so far as being slippery.
