It would seem to me that since there are two major variables involved that there is most likely differing results.
1. There are different windscreen shapes and sizes resulting in differing wind resistance 2. There are many different sizes and shapes of riders
Another possible factor will be the power of the scoot. With a 400 cc scoot you may not notice any difference with or without a windscreen whereas when riding a 50 cc scoot the effects may indeed be much more evident.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or schematic for a 2012 Tomos Twister 50 scoot or know where I can find one online? I've searched high and low for one online to no avail. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

No, but as an option you might want to look into renting a trailer. I would think you could rent a trailer pretty cheaply if you needed it.

If you wish to have connectors in more accessible locations, you could just cut the existing connectors off and solder the wires (covered with heat shrink tubing) where the original connectors were. This will keep the total number of connectors on a given wire run the same as the factory originals and just moves them to a more convenient location. Just my $.02 worth.

Just a reminder, when using charts for selecting wire sizes (AWG) by length of the wire run must be doubled as the length is the total length from source to load AND return from load back to the source.
