I just passed the 3000 mile/1 year mark on my 2011 Roketa, and as I was scooting around today it occurred to me that maybe it would be useful for me and others of limited experience if there were a pinned thread somewhere -- maybe even in each scooter category, but at least in one place -- where people can post their experiences with the scooter parts that inevitably wear out. Yeah, I know it depends on your driving style and a lot of other things, but on average, when should you start watching your brake pads or shoes? How long do variator rollers/sliders last on average? What's the point where your belt is probably starting to suffer from old age? Tires? Other wear-outable parts? That thread about where to get parts is great, seems to me one about when to start worrying about your current parts would also be nice. What think ye?

Funny, I had a new rear tire installed today. It had 6,000 kilometers on it and was as bald as me. I could have gone a little longer on dry but not wet roads. However I had picked up a roofing staple in it and rather than yank it and go flat I went ahead and bought a new tire. I have only had this scooter a month or so and have put 1200 ks on it myself. I can see that the pads are pretty thin and I will change them soon myself. So I asked the tech to check my rear shoes and let me know. So when he rolls it out I asked about the brakes he said these Chinese scoots wear out long before the brake shoes, so I adjusted them up a little for you. They looked fine. He works on commission I'm sure so he would have tried to sell me brakes If I needed them. Next time the wheel is off I'll take a peak. I have had many bikes and the ones with disc front and rear drums do seem to need fronts about 2 to 1 Did I answer any questions ? If not at least I got to work out my 2 typing fingers.

All such is good. I'm sure lots of people will have lots of different experience, but if a "knowledge base" gradually builds up, some kind of ballpark averages should start to emerge.

yes I think so ,it seems Average life of treads are short ,before another one is created i seen one that has 4 repleys but 769 reads,so most it seems just like to read rather then get involved ,though this is fairly new forum from what i see,an what I like is ,,I been on forums that allowed to much debate ,an to much bull .,i like this wear it seems to treat everyone the same ,an bull ,i see that is not tolerated hear ,an I like it ,example is I don't belong to a z28 Camaro forum,an I think its whole different animal,an for example my car has been so good to me an ran so great I kind feel like I did not need one , ,an be careful though couse there will allways be those who got nothing better to do then find the faults in someones thread or post ,I am not hear for that .I agree ellpee
