Do you ever ride with the Sky Island Riders scooter club in Tucson? Great group of riders and great rides. I made a couple with them in the late winter time.

If you have a choice get a Topper H. They were 10 hp. The regular Topper was certified under 5 hp so they qualified for younger riders.

Oh, Oh, JR. I planted "bad seeds" in your fertile mind!!!! I distinctly remember riding through small towns on my Topper and all the kids with their Cushman Eagles had their noses so high in the air they couldn't even see my Topper. After I traded for the Electroglide the same kids nearly broke their arms waving from their Eagles. It was hilarious. Have you heard anything from Doug as to what he found in that engine?

My YY250T had a porous spot in the rim right at the inside recess for the stem. I used a short, small stem from auto parts and set it in silicone sealant and never had another problem.

It would be a collectors item for sure. We've seen a couple in museums in recent years. From that I went to a 53 FLE Electroglide, a retired police bike, then to a HD Sprint, the Italian made Harley 250. That was not one of their shining moments either.

I thought some of you might be interested in this picture. In 1961 I bought this 1960 Harley Davidson Topper. New for $363. 165 cc two stroke. The engine seized at 2500 miles repaired under warranty, and by 5000 it was getting noisy so traded it off. Attachments:

Some times that "ain't mp other way to get there". Recently had to go from San Bernardino to southern NV. I 15 is the only road there! But I agree stay off of them if you can. I plan to ride from southern OR to NW AR in June and it is back roads everywhere possible. ( Might even stop and see you, JR.) And I am older that you. JR.

Alley, if the lubricant on the rollers were dried up would that make it work different? I took it on a 150 + mile ride today through the beautiful rugged mountains of southern CA and it seemed to work more as I had expected it to. It climbed to 8400 foot elevation with ease and seems to run at somewhat lower RPMs. It is noticeably faster than the Jonway though I did not try for top speed.

What is the weight of standard 250 variator ? The yy250T that Doug got from me ran 4000 @50 mph. This Honda Reflex that I just bought runs 5000 @ 40. Big difference. I much prefer the lower RPMs since I do lots of long distance cruising. I have no reference point to start from in changing rollers. Ideas or experiences?
