Well I finally give up on the gentleman who has the vintage Cushman, he just can't seem to make up his mind. I really don't blame him, I don't think I could let it go either. But I have been reading up on these and I'm not jumping up and down for one but if I do stumble across one and it's not going to take a arm and a leg to get it I'm going to grab one. motorcycleinfo.org/2008/08/harley-davidson-scooters-and-mopeds/A two stroker? Very interested indeed. JR

Interesting JR , with all the ball breaking I get at work from the guys that ride Harleys . I think if I came to work with a Harley scooter they would be speechless .

Oh, Oh, JR. I planted "bad seeds" in your fertile mind!!!! I distinctly remember riding through small towns on my Topper and all the kids with their Cushman Eagles had their noses so high in the air they couldn't even see my Topper. After I traded for the Electroglide the same kids nearly broke their arms waving from their Eagles. It was hilarious. Have you heard anything from Doug as to what he found in that engine?

Doug has been really busy at work and with some projects at home but he is going to tear it apart. He found metal in the oil.

Good luck on finding a Harley Topper. Rarer than hens teeth from what I can learn. If you find one I doubt that it will be a cheap buy. DX

If you have a choice get a Topper H. They were 10 hp. The regular Topper was certified under 5 hp so they qualified for younger riders.

Allow an extra granbd for the round trip to pick it up and at 3 grand you got a deal. However, you will be buying it more or less sight unseen. Could be a baby hog in a poke, or maybe not.

Lots of the scooter looks good, only concern I see from the pictures is the brick under it where the kickstand should be? Other than that it says engine not froze up? Also if you look at the license plate you'll see it hasn't been on the road legal since 1969? Did it quit running or what?
Body looks good and $1500 to $2k would be a good deal even if you had to go through the engine. On the trip if I could get it my family and I are going to California in June to see my daughter and take the grandkids to Disneyland.
But Petaluma is up above Frisco and where my daughter is Twentynine Palms is below LA which would mean another whole day to there and back.
Lastly I don't think I could talk the Mrs. into pulling a trailer with me from Arkansas to California?
Got to find one closer.

Rent a UHaul trailer there and turn it in when you get home. I have a 6x8 flatbed that I use to trailer my scoots to Bryson City, NC and to my dealer for servicing.

I've got a good trailer heavy duty with overload axle and 10ply tires, just don't want to drag it across the country. I'll get lucky with one closer to home one of these days.
