Better to aim high and miss than to aim low and hit. I'm considering the 200cc big-bore kit down the road...

Can an EFI kit be added to a 150cc air-cooled GY6? I'd like to boost my top end a bit as well; right now she can do ~55mph or just slightly less. I'd like to get it to around 70mph so I can ride on the highways comfortably (getting across the bay without taking the Howard Frankland or Gandy bridge is a circuitous route at best, and would add an hour or more riding time if/when I want to get to Clearwater Beach.)

Well, I figured out why the bike was ticking so loudly. Guess I didn't tighten the exhaust well enough, and it was VERY loose - like .1 or so. I tightened everything up, and set the intake to .0015, and the exhaust to a tight .002, and it sounds great. alleyoop, what about if/when I have to replace the stock rubber intake manifold? (Y'know, from age/cracking/etc.) I know the one I have is fine for now, but when it comes time to replace it, I'd rather go with a higher-quality one. BTW, this is where I found the instructions I mentioned: thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=carb&action=display&thread=76

Alleyoop: question on the new carb.
I was reading the installation instructions in the tech section, and it says:
"Loosen the hose clamp attaching the carburetor to the manifold and remove the carburetor. Next, remove the two nuts attaching the manifold to the cylinder head and remove the old manifold. If your old carburetor has a vacuum line, remove this. The Keihin CVK does not require this. You will run a single vacuum line from the fuel petcock to the new intake manifold."
Now, I don't have a fuel petcock, but I believe it's talking about the hose that goes from the (remember the pic you posted?) right side of the intake manifold to the carb. If that's correct, I only need a intake manifold that has the one vacuum line, on the left, correct? Meaning I can order one of the higher-quality replacements, no?
I've also seen at least 4-5 different aftermarket intake manifolds. Any recommendations on which one to go with?

Yes, but how would someone go about ADDING a sidestand safety switch? Can the parts be ordered, and added to a scooter that doesn't have one?

Yes, but I'm still learning what goes where, and I'm not very good at improvising things (I'm more analytical than creative.) Probably would be a great tech item if someone listed how to remove one, and of course the converse, how to install one if you don't have it.

I would actually like to HAVE a kickstand kill switch. I figure the motor doesn't need to start if I use the kickstand; if I'm working on the bike and need to start it, it should be on center stand. So conversely, how would I ADD one to my Taotao? (Hey, if cobrahd1999 or someone takes theirs off, maybe they'll give me the parts.)

I will offer you a half-eaten ham sandwich and a half a pack of smokes. Hurry, this offer won't last long! (I'm hungry.)

True. Don't forget frustration! But knowing what the problem is, and how to fix it myself, is priceless.

Yep, George's carb replacement (with a stock carb) cost him $89 + tax. Crazy!

I can't wait for the new carb to get here. I definitely want to tune the engine a bit. Thanks for everything!

Yes, I have a fuel pump, as the tank is in the front, where I put my feet. And yes, I put the Visu filter on myself. Also lengthened the fuel lines a bit so it'd be easier to see and get to it when it needs to be changed. Cost like $8 locally (I know I can order them cheaper online, but I had the stock crappy plastic one and wanted to swap it out ASAP.) I took the bike out to return the Harbor Freight stuff (since I didn't need it), and picked up dinner. Runs good, except for the loud ticking, which I know I'll work on in the morning. I'm a shade-tree mechanic, but I do enjoy doing some of the work myself (plus it's sorta fun. Not "I'd do it for a living" fun, but definitely knowledge-is-power fun.)

The other one is going to a smaller canister, and then just hanging there.

Correct, when the engine died the first time, the mechanic took all the CA emissions stuff off and re-routed everything. Should get a T-hose and add it? Or...?
