Very Good question Cobra, the answer will be a good one to put in the tech section. I am sure JR will know. If I remember correctly you have to connect two wires together so it allows the juice to flow and not disrupt the flow. Alleyoop

I wouldn't do it.. the switch is a safely issue...best to use the center stand when you are working on these scooters...

Have to agree with sprocket. You should never run the engine with the side stand down. If you have to run the engine for maintenance purposes, always do it while on the center stand. Neither of my scoots have a side stand switch, but I have trained myself to never run the engine with the side stand down.

So if its such a safety item WHY are there VERY FEW SCOOTS WITH a Sidestand switch? The majority of the scoots DO NOT have a sidestand switch , you would think the EPA would MANDATE them, they mandate the KILLSWITCH on the handlebar. Alleyoop

I would actually like to HAVE a kickstand kill switch. I figure the motor doesn't need to start if I use the kickstand; if I'm working on the bike and need to start it, it should be on center stand. So conversely, how would I ADD one to my Taotao? (Hey, if cobrahd1999 or someone takes theirs off, maybe they'll give me the parts.)

Yes, but I'm still learning what goes where, and I'm not very good at improvising things (I'm more analytical than creative.) Probably would be a great tech item if someone listed how to remove one, and of course the converse, how to install one if you don't have it.

Yes, but how would someone go about ADDING a sidestand safety switch? Can the parts be ordered, and added to a scooter that doesn't have one?

You could get a switch for another scoot but you would need to RE-WIRE it to the existing Kill switch as the comedian would say. Alleyoop

with just a little thought and injunity and a good clamp you can get a heavy duty cut off switch from a tractor supply or lawnmower place and wire it in at the celinoid the small wire that is not the bat cable so if your side kick stand is down the scoot wont start, OR if you want to elininate the kill switch take the wires off the kill switch and wire nut the ends toeather and a little elect tape and put them up where they wont be dangleing around anywhere travler1
