Mine looks almost like that, except the upper (as it would be in your pic if it were there) is going to the carb. In other pics, I've seen it going to the canister by the carb, where I have an open nipple that looks like it would be for it - except the carb would have an open nipple if I changed them. (Does that make sense? LOL)

I set the intake to .004 (really tight; the .003 fit in decently), and the exhaust the same, so that's why I'm looking at .002 or so. It ticks pretty loud, which I def don't want it to do. My neighbor's scooter - same as mine, but his is a 2010 - is purring really nicely, and I'd like to get mine to that.
Thanks for the help, and the carb link. As soon as it gets here, I'll be installing it.
Question: the intake manifold I have has two vacuum nipples on it; all the metal aftermarket ones I see have none, or one. I did find one seller selling the original (rubber) intake manifold, and they described it as "the hard-to-find with two vacuum nipples" - does that mean I can't put a better intake manifold on mine?

Ordered. Coming from NC (where I grew up! LOL), should be here in 2-3 days. Sweet!
Anything I should know about this carb?
edit: Also, I can hear the valves tapping loudly, so tomorrow I'm going to re-do them tighter, maybe .002 or .0015, see how much that reduces it.

SUCCESS! She idles normally now (well, as normally as I can get it.) Had to play with the idle screw, but the back wheel isn't spinning after it warms up.
Definitely louder than his; also, I found a hose coming of the CVT cover (it's right behind the wire-covered hose that goes to the carb), but it's too short to go anywhere.
I can hear the tapping from the valves; I think I'm going to pull them off and re-adjust them tomorrow, see if I can make it any quieter.
edit: The stock carb isn't good, IMO, since it doesn't have the A/F mixture screw, and it's "sealed", so I can't easily adjust/repair/replace anything. That's why I'm looking at a replacement carb, with a mind toward other future upgrades as well.

While I'm waiting for the battery to charge, besides the two eBay carbs listed, what should I be looking for? Any recommendations on models or anything?

No, they're just the same stock one I have. I'm not gonna worry about drilling it out, since I know I'm going to order a better carb. Just looking for recommendations on which one to get. BTW, my neighbors scooter is purring nicely. He took off for a ride.

I can never get it started from the kick (bad back, bad R hip, too damned old.) I'm just letting it charge the battery for now.

Well, I got one of the replacement carbs on there, but it appears that my battery might be dead now. It turned over a bit, then that typical clicking. I borrowed my neighbor's battery charger, and it's plugged up right now. Really hoping this at least gets me on the road.

Couldn't wait to rush home and post this. Stopped at the scooter shop, my neighbor George (who has the same scooter and same problem) just got his fixed. Result: he needed a new carb. I asked Eric (the manager) if they had any spare auto chokes; no. Spare carbs? Yes. He went into the shop and grabbed me two stock ones, handed them to me, and said "These didn't really work for us. Bring them back when you're done." So, I now have two spare stock carbs - with the auto choke on them - for me to try. Maybe I'll get lucky! But in the meantime, I know two eBay carbs were listed; is there a better "performance" one I should go with, as I'm planning upgrades later? (I might go with the 180cc kit, or something like that; I think I even saw a 200cc kit, but that requires machining!) edit: in case I wasn't clear, I will be ordering a new carb WITH the A/F mix screw. But while I'm waiting, I'd like to have this up and running so *I* can be up and running.

I wonder if I can get a decent one locally, so I wouldn't have to wait on it being shipped. The first one looks pretty decent... I know this will sound argumentative, and I'm not trying to be, but it's just hard to believe that I can't get this running without replacing the carb. I'm wondering if I should try to just replace the auto choke first (seems like a cheap trial) and see if that at least gets it running. If that worked, I would just order the replacement carb while I'm able to drive this one around...

I did flip mine over, but I can't take the screws out - looks like Taotao sheared them off or something. So what would my options be?
Also, the vacuum lines in the photo you posted are not the same configuration as I have - could that be part of the issue? Mind seem to be routed differently.

(Again) scanning for parts, came across this:
"Carburetor Choke-Enrichener, Automatic, Electric, 2T & 4T, GY6 50/125/150cc
Mechanics Note: This is usually the problem when the engine is difficult to start, won't stay running or runs fuel rich. This is an inexpensive and easy repair."
Could that be the issue? Makes sense, maybe mine went bad or something...?

Someone else has told me that this is a "sealed carb", possibly done to pass the CA emissions test - is that possible? I mean, there are plenty of these on the road, I can't believe that everyone has to replace the carb...
So, with that being said, if I *do* need to replace it, what would a good replacement be? Keep in mind that I'm looking at future upgrades as well.
