What do you mean "raise the needle all the way up", and I have the bigger jet already, I just need an emulsifier tube for it. Don't know where to get it.

Just went outside and cranked her, she started right up. Idle seems to be higher than it was; maybe because of more air with the more-free-flowing intake? (I haven't put the exhaust on yet.) I'm worried that with the free-flowing intake (and exhaust, which I'll put on later tonight or tomorrow) that she's going to run too lean.

I put the stock 102 main jet/emulsifier tube back in, buttoned everything up, and...she won't start. I'm assuming that's probably because I emptied the float bowl when I tried to do the upjet? Letting it sit for a bit, too damn frustrated with it.

You can't really see it, but I'm running the stock fan, and I cut off all the plastic grill, and put on a 4" 45° PVC pipe. I found an old chrome toothbrush holder at the flea market for a dollar; the bottom of it was a mesh-type, so I cut everything off, and affixed the metal mesh to the PVC pipe using QuickSteel Epoxy Putty. Seems to be working great, IMO.

Alright, a forum members sold me a carb upjet kit for $8, and today I put on the Dragon Custom Big Shot Air Intake. Then I went to upjet the carb to at least a 110 (it has a 102 in it, at least that what's marked as.) However, it looks like I have a problem. Here's what my carb jets look like, compared to what he sent me: So it looks like those won't work. I don't know that leaving the new air intake on is a good idea, since the a/f mix is probably going to have too much air, and not enough fuel. The main jet does NOT come apart from the emulsifier tube. I've banged it up a bit trying to get it to do so, looks like it's one piece. What are my options? Where can I get the correct carb jets? And while I'm waiting for them to arrive, is there anything I can do?

Yep, I was already looking at the Trail Tech line. I am wanting to find a "regular"-type gauge, and I think I found it: Equus 2 1/2" Mini Chrome Tachometer - Part # 6076 - MSRP $71.04 They also have a black model, but I like the look of the chrome one better... All their tachs use inductive pickup per their info page, so it should work perfectly. And I was able to find the chrome model online for $36 shipped, so that should work, no?

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. Hoping to find something like those, and thought maybe someone would have a link or something.

OK, I've been on a buying spree for the scooter today. ;D Already picked up the Stage 3 Ignition Kit from ScooterElements, a set of Dragon Custom chrome billet grips I found on eBay for $33 shipped (they won't add anything but bling LOL), and the Dragon Custom Big Shot Air Intake and Big Shot Exhaust (got them for $245 shipped.) I'm waiting to hear back from a guy who has a set of carb jets for me, 'cuz I'm gonna need them, and I know I need a tachometer. I'd really love to find a nice 2" round tachometer somewhere, (at a reasonable price!) but all the ones I've found are Harley-related, and way over the price I'm willing to pay (they're anywhere from $125 to over $200!) I've found a few on eBay, but I don't know if they'll do the job or not. For example: Those are just three examples of what I've found so far; most everything looks like one of those three. Honestly, I've never installed a tachometer before - everything I've driven has already had one installed - so will any of these work? Is there something else I should be looking at? (I know of the Tiny-Tach™, but I really don't like those or even know a good [cheap?] place to order them from.) And of course, once I get it, how the heck do I install it? I figure with the new air intake and new exhaust, plus the NCY CDI & Racing Wire coil, I need to know what my RPMs are both before installing any of that, and obviously what they are after installing any of those, so I can adjust the idle and whatnot accordingly (if necessary.) So: As always, the opinions and experience of those who've been doing this longer than I are welcome - and needed!

So I've decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Dragon Customs Big Shot Air Intake and the Big Shot Exhaust. I know this means that I'll need to re-jet my carb, but I'm not sure to what. Right now I have a Keihin carb on it with the stock jets (102 for the main jet, and whatever is stock for the pilot.)
I recently saw someone talking about a kit on eBay for jets; it was cheap for like 5 of them, but it's gone. I see there's one on eBay for $20 for several jets, but not sure of the quality.
So what should I be ordering (and some ideas from where would be great.) I'm thinking I'll need to go to a 110 or maybe 112 (probably no higher) on the main jet, and possibly to a 35 on the pilot jet (which I doubt it is already; not sure if I'll need to change this or not?)
Suggestions?

why would someone who doesnt have a 100 miles on a scooter( any size) argue with people who have tens of thousands of miles ?
guys ,i see now, you will never win a argument, NO MATER WHAT YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCES ARE, so you may as well give up now.
i mean isnt this the same person who argued with ALLEY about carbs.? and alley is consider the guru on carbs on MANY forums.
oh well have a good life im done What? I never argued with alley about carbs! I just asked questions. I'm not arguing here, I'm trying to post what I've read, and make sense of it.

I don't see anything that says NGK disagrees; in fact, one of the bullet points says: Also, on the next page, NGK says: If you put a CDI in that advances the timing & removes the rev limiter (as I'm planning to do), NGK says: Thus, choosing a spark plug with a greater heat range would be BETTER, not worse. I just don't get it...why would someone NOT want a spark plug that can handle a higher heat range?

Heat kills. Heat = bad, running cooler = better.
I'm not sure that the CR8HIX is a "cold" plug, it's just that it can handle a greater heat range - it can handle hotter engines, and the GY6 engines run hot.

I got this reply from Pulstar this morning:
We do not offer a replacement for the CRxH series of NGK plugs. It has a 10mm thread diameter and a ½ inch reach which we do not produce. We only manufacture a ¾” version of the 10mm plug.
I can’t tell you at this time if we are planning on releasing a plug at the length you are needing but I will definitely forward your inquiry on so we can possibly build it in the future as there is demand for it.
