Thanks Cruiser, that is what I was kinda looking for but wasn't sure about the pressure values for the scoot. I am fixing to do a lot to my scoot as far as taking it down and replacing and repairing lots of the plastic. I would like to get all the under plastic stuff done at that time instead of having to take it all down again.

It's the MC54B-250 so it is below the carb just behind the radiator in the front. and the pump is even lower than that.

I kinda think my fuel pump may not be working properly, considering that with a full tank of gas there isn't a problem with starts and running. After it gets down to around a half a tank or lower it becomes harder to start and maintain a good running engine. Had that problem before on a car I had and replaced the mechanical pump with an electric and eliminated the problem all together. That's why I am thinking about going to an electric and no I do not have any hills or mountains where I am. It is all flat land unless you wanna count overpasses as possible hills. LOL

I wasn't quite sure but I kinda figured it wouldn't be the high rated one. Just so many out there to choose from. lol

I am wondering if anybody has gone to an electric fuel pump on their 54B scooter [257CC]. If so what would the recommended pressure rating be? I have seen some universal pumps that can go from 2.5 psi to 4 psi and some from 4 psi to 10 psi. which would be the best for the scoots?

Have you checked the flow of gas from the tank to the pump? Something may be in the tank that is slowly chocking off the gas supply to the pump.

Speed; I can't remember what they were. They are still attached to the wiring harness and just hanging under the front cowl.

Just a quick note. I have installed a pair of 60w/55w halogen bulbs in my 54B and have not had any problems with melting lenses or back sockets. I swapped the original connection with an H4 connection and also left the rubber boots off the back of the headlights. I did this change over about 2 months ago. The only problem I have now since the change over is drawing to many amps when the fan kicks in and at that the point the blinkers won't work but I can live with that. lol

Damin; Thanks for the correction I did not know that. That is very interesting that they made it all one unit with the crank. Learn something new everyday. Specially on these motors.

In my opinion the best way I used to pull engines apart even V8 engines is to open the bottom and pull the rod cap from the piston rod and pull piston and head as all one unit. Then after removal you can lightly tap the piston top with a hammer handle to knock it out. When you put it all back together you will have top compress the piston rings to get them to slide into the head. That is best done from the top anyway (a lot easier). from looks of things you are basically rebuilding the engine anyway. Would be a good time for honing the cylinder and putting in new rings.

Cruiser; It could quite be possible that mine has always been there just wasn't sure. I was thinking it was maybe a bearing or something that was going bad.

Hello all from South Texas. I finally made it over here. Looking forward to good advice and helpful hints. My ride as some of you may already know is a Roketa MC-54B-250 with the Linhai motor.

Hey Speedy I am gonna follow this closely to see what your problem is since I too have that same problem. Mine will free wheel tho just doesn't run true. It seems when looking down from the top with no plastic on that the bracket on the muffler side might be a little longer than the one on the tranny side. And when you speed up the rpms the tire and and entire brake assembly has what looks to be a wobble to it but same here when you try to shake the thing by hand there is no side to side free movement. Also when looking at it from the back you can see the wheel and all is cocked to one side.
