Is this an option? I can't get it back on. Both bolt heads have broken off inside... with one that I tried to break up with a drill after unsuccessfully using a bolt extraction kit. it is stripped out. I do have a kick start, but the lever needs to be replaced.

well the scooter is back out of commission once again... problems with the mounting area where the starter motor is bolted in. This time now it is the other bolt... that bolt has also broken off.
Run down on the situation goes like this. the left bolt broke off inside the threaded hole. I was able to get my friend to come over and we tried using a bolt extractor kit which didn't work... he then took a drill with a drill bit and tried to break the bolt up which didn't work. I suggested using a tap and die which he told me that the threaded hole is a stronger metal that is meant to withstand threading and that the metal outside of the hole would be too soft. So what we did was just mount it with one bolt and that it would be a very temporary fix, and he told me that a fix of last resort would be to spot weld it on (which I have no clue how to do) and to replace my kick starter (which is also broke... the lever broke off and I tried to jerry rig a bolt through the "spline knob" that you attach the lever to because the splines were stripped...)
well the right bolt broke off as well yesterday. If I get a kickstarter assembly and lever, what can i do about this starter motor? I'm pretty sure I just can't leave it out with a big gaping hole??? any suggestions for a temp or jerry-rigged solution will work that will keep this thing working for another couple of months. I now have a decent paying job, so the first priority is to save up $1000 for a new one which will most likely take me a couple of months (pending how much I have to spend for the holidays), and either scrap this piece of sh*t or keep it around for parts.

btw... FRANKENSCOOTER (my new nickname for my scooter) is ALIVE. I got it running today and took it for a quick spin. my next problem is I can't get the air filter box back on the carb. I've pulled it off and put it back on a dozen times with no problems

I tried it both ways and I got nothing when I pressed the starter button... however if I touch red/yellow to green or black... the starter motor turns don't know if that is helpful or not

thank you guys for the replies
both green and black from the harness go to green on the starter or just black from the harness goes to green from the starter and green from the harness disconnected?

The kill switch has been finicky for me... I have a feeling the kill switch is not working. how can I bypass it to test this hypothesis... the wire colors running to my kill switch and starter button are black, black/white, red/yellow, and green. I have a multimeter as well if this is helpful

well I can't get the filter box back on the manifold for some reason or another... I have yelled and cursed at it for the last 20 minutes. I have taken this thing off a million times and put it back on with no problem.. I guess the plastic is warped or something.

i finally got the starter motor back on... now I just can't get the darn thing to crank... I've adjusted the air/fuel screw and one time it did act like it was going to start up... the thing has been sitting for several months now. any suggestions?

I have been holding the starter motor on and trying to crank it. it is turning over, but it is not starting. I checked the gas line and it is running fine to the carb. I checked my spark plug and it is sparking. The battery is brand new. I am not sure how to check the auto-choke, but the carb itself is fairly new. I cleaned the carb a couple of weeks ago as well. I suspect there is some sort of compression problem of which I have no clue really what to do about.

It appears that I am going to need to take my scooter apart to get to this broken off bolt at my starter motor... I have never done anything quite this extensive before. What are some things I need to make sure to do and not to do... I don't want to break anything or end up with fluids everywhere.

The bolts that held my starter motor broke off... I can't get the broken off bolts out. I've tried with a drill and easy outs... but I can't get a perfectly perpendicular angle or centered point of attack on this thing. I have a cheap dremel that I was able to borrow from a friend, but it doesn't go in reverse. The threads are still intact. the kick starter lever is broken, so I don't have a way to start it now... (besides there is a big gaping hole where the starter motor was as well, so i couldn't ride it anyway)
I am pretty broke until tomorrow in which I will have $20 to go to auto parts store via the bus to buy something that is suggested. At this point, I really don't care if the fix is temporary, gerry rigged, soldered on, or whatever other crazy suggestions that are concocted. I'm not planning to resell this scooter as I don't feel like it would be right to pass this horrible headache of a scooter to someone else. I just need it to run long enough and reliably enough for me to get this new job and save up for another one.
