I borrowed a dremel from my friend. He told me that it is possible to drill a notch in the bolt and sometimes you can unscrew it with a straight screwdriver. has anyone ever tried this?

yeah I will have a pic up there shortly. I am going to borrow a dremel this afternoon and see if I can put a notch in it and back it out with a screwdriver.

the bolts holding my starter motor on have broken off unfortunately. without checking for clearance on my drill I bought an extractor kit. after looking at videos I realized that this has to be done very precisely making sure to drill in the center of the bolt at a right angle. unfortunately, my drill will not allow for that. Is there any other solution for this?

well after looking at it today. I can't fit a drill in there to even drill a hole anyway. I have no clue what to do at this point. At harbor freights, the guy mentioned to me a tap and die set, but I was under the impression that the bolt still has to be drilled out. It would be unaffordable for me to go buy another drill to do this with no guarantee of it even coming out. I have a big gaping hole now where the starter motor was, so I'm not sure what to do about that either if I decide to just go with a kick starter.

from my experience, the kick start on my Chinese scooter was a POS. I ended up stripping the shaft and eventually the lever broke off completely. I'd try to get your electric starter working and just have the kick starter for emergency or temporary use only.

so I bought me a bolt extractor today. I have been looking online as to how to use it. I'm limited a bit with the access to get where I need to go. I have never extracted a broken off bolt before. any tips as to what I need to make sure to do and to make sure not to do?

Actually it is worse than I thought... how deep is the bolt supposed to go in? it appears that the bolts have broken off :-(

Well in taking the scooter apart... I found the problem... the bolts holding the starter motor fell out. and the starter motor was just dangling there. any clue as to what bolts I need to get to replace them?

I certainly hope I don't haha. I just redid the complete wiring harness a few months back. could it be my starter motor? if so, how do I test it? is it safe to test it by hooking it up to my battery directly?

Any ideas as to where I can get a really cheap kick starter shaft and lever for a 50cc chinese scooter?
