seems like it has been one thing after another with this thing haha. Yesterday i got stranded and had to walk it back. yesterday it was just making a sort of "whining" noise... That noise a starter makes after you have tried to crank it for a bit and you get that sorta winding up noise. Now, I'm not even getting that today. it is just the relay clicking. I charged my battery up with my battery charger to no avail. My kickstart pedal broke off a while back and I never replaced it. What should I check first? I have a multimeter to check a few things. Thanks guys in advance.

did it sound like it was spinning fast with the starter ? if so pull the spark plug and and check for compression .

First thing if the relay is clicking check if the relay is good or bad. Touch both terminals and see if it spins the starter if it does the relay is bad. What your doing touching both terminals is your bypassing the internal contact and sending juice to the starter directly. Alleyoop

Your going to need to get your electric starter working again . Remove the spark plug put your finger over the hole and crank your finger should get blown off the spark plug hole . That is ok for a quick check . A more precise way is using a compression gauge . while you have the plug out inspect it . I would check for spark too . John

the spinning is the battery dying. it won't turn the starter fast enough to kick out the bendix. replace your battery and try again

I put my multimeter on both terminals of the relay and no spinning occurred. I put my multimeter on both terminals of the battery and it says 11 volts. it is a 12 volt battery, so could this be the problem? I'm recharging the battery as we speak. the indicator light on the charger is not on for a full charge.

When your battery is fully charged when it has been off the charger for at least an hour. And still is over 12.6v

I would like to also add that last week I had to charge the battery because it was doing a similar problem. After the recharge, the scooter started right back up. This time however it is not doing that after a full charge. I am going to leave the charger on for a bit and see what happens.
In the mean time, is there something else I could check? my starter motor perhaps? I read in another forum that you can run a hot lead to the "stud" of the starter motor to see if it is working. not sure where the "stud" is on a starter motor.
This is what I read.
"If it's a bad solenoid it's easy enough to test. Just use a heavy piece of wire or a pair of pliers to jump across the large terminal on the solenoid and it should crank. If it doesn't crank I'd make sure your battery is good or even try jumping from a NON-RUNNING car. If that still doesn't work try running the hot lead (positive) directly to the stud on the starter. If that's a no go then you have problems with either the starter or Bendix/clutch."

So I bought a new battery for $55 bucks. Charged it up all of the way. Hook up the terminals and leave it for about an hour or so before cranking. Go to hit the starter, and the relay is still clicking So what's the next stop...

Ok, again try the test on the Solenoid it could be the battery and Solenoid were bad. With the battery showing 12.5 or above it should spin the starter. Again jump the two terminals on the relay. Alleyoop
