Is this an option? I can't get it back on. Both bolt heads have broken off inside... with one that I tried to break up with a drill after unsuccessfully using a bolt extraction kit. it is stripped out. I do have a kick start, but the lever needs to be replaced.

Yes you can run without a Starter BUT you will have to plug up the hole with something , don't forget there is oil in there and oil will squirt out if you leave it open.
But I cannot believe you cannot go to the hardware store and get a good drill bit for metal. I had to do that to my Brother-in laws burgman, one of the screws was stripped and I tried to drill it out. Now I have a shit load of drill bits and none would make a dent. So I went to the hardware store and got a good drill bit for metal and WHOLA one two three drilled it out. Alleyoop

I'd use a carbide left hand drill bit. Tis a bit pricey but there is no reguler bolt it can't cut thru.
