i finally got the starter motor back on... now I just can't get the darn thing to crank... I've adjusted the air/fuel screw and one time it did act like it was going to start up... the thing has been sitting for several months now. any suggestions?

Check for spark and make sure it has a good strong blue spark. If it has good spark move on.
Then give her a little shot of carb cleaner directly into the intake manifiold by removing the vacuum hose hooked to it.
Since it has sit it may just need to be primed and you might also want to put a shot of seafoam in the tank.

First Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw CLOCKWISE until it stops and then turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 2 1/2 turns. Also make sure your AIR FILTER is on and connected otherwise it will have a hard time sucking in fuel. THEN: Take the Hose off the Vacuum Connector on the Intake Manifold and squirt a little bit of gas directly into the Vacuum Connector and put the hose back on. Now try to start it, it should fire it may start and die but it should fire if your spark plug is fireing. Alleyoop

well I can't get the filter box back on the manifold for some reason or another... I have yelled and cursed at it for the last 20 minutes. I have taken this thing off a million times and put it back on with no problem.. I guess the plastic is warped or something.

You have to grab it by the end get a little bit on the bottom side of the carb and twist it on like your turning a screw with a screwdriver. If you still cannot get it on then the Last Resort is cut a 1/2 inch slit on the end put it on then wrap some tape over the slit and then put the clamp on. Alleyoop

well the scooter is back out of commission once again... problems with the mounting area where the starter motor is bolted in. This time now it is the other bolt... that bolt has also broken off.
Run down on the situation goes like this. the left bolt broke off inside the threaded hole. I was able to get my friend to come over and we tried using a bolt extractor kit which didn't work... he then took a drill with a drill bit and tried to break the bolt up which didn't work. I suggested using a tap and die which he told me that the threaded hole is a stronger metal that is meant to withstand threading and that the metal outside of the hole would be too soft. So what we did was just mount it with one bolt and that it would be a very temporary fix, and he told me that a fix of last resort would be to spot weld it on (which I have no clue how to do) and to replace my kick starter (which is also broke... the lever broke off and I tried to jerry rig a bolt through the "spline knob" that you attach the lever to because the splines were stripped...)
well the right bolt broke off as well yesterday. If I get a kickstarter assembly and lever, what can i do about this starter motor? I'm pretty sure I just can't leave it out with a big gaping hole??? any suggestions for a temp or jerry-rigged solution will work that will keep this thing working for another couple of months. I now have a decent paying job, so the first priority is to save up $1000 for a new one which will most likely take me a couple of months (pending how much I have to spend for the holidays), and either scrap this piece of sh*t or keep it around for parts.
