Both start and run and idle fine. But the minute you hop on and start to go it starts out fine and then it falls on its face! No power and won't move. lean and sticky choke settings no power = top end issues if you run no air filter it expands the engine wear epeditionally ever tested the throttle cable slide? Or test for slack. There is an issue bases on power receiving test your rectifier may be shorting under load thus causing a ac choke enrichner to go haywire under load.

No no and no, your cylinders glazed to shit, scotch brite pads, marvel oil, the piston had a bit of a hang up seizure + blow by the rings. No scuffs = reuse but the piston looks like pure garbage unless you got all day to slap that hoe with some sand paper on the burnt side. I am a 2 t guy with auto excellence skills. Be better ofd ordering a new top end then to piss off the motor as the circlips still need to be replaced as well for rings. Last thing you want is to throw a rod from metal to metal hang up.

So I drive a 49cc Vespa LX 50. Originally my battery was just dead so I always kick started the scooter and that worked fine. Then on really hot days as I was using the throttle I noticed it would start to almost kind of give out and the scooter would only be going about half speed when the throttle was held down all the way. When this would happen it would be really hard to kick start again but usually I could kick start it after a few minutes. I'm not sure if the heat had to do with it or not. I live in Florida so almost every day is hot. However, now I can't kickstart the thing at all. Any help would be great. I am putting my vote on your electric choke/enrichner sticking, if you pull your plug look for gold color, must not be ashy white/gold or black and wet.if any of those are present your carb needs a tune up. Drop it in a bowl of carb cleaner disassembled with the choke removed. If it doesn't change then that's your target unless your air cooled which means the hot air ate your rings up. May be due for top end.

hi everyone not been on here for a while right ive got this problem with my 2002 yamaha jog r air cooled scooter it wont start from cold unless you place your hand over the intake on the carb to draw petrol into the engine with this done it will start and run perfectly and you can turn it off then with just 1 kick on the kickstarter it fires up right away but leave it for half an hour the b*****d wont start unless you cover the carb inlet again things i have checked for are good spark fit new spark plug stripped and cleaned out carb (3 times) checked autochoke not stuck open (ok) replaced reed valve block sealed all inlet gaskets replaced inlet manifold drained fuel tank and refilled with fresh fuel checked compression (around 90-100 psi) checked for blocked exhaust can anyone help me sort it out before i lose my rag and treat it to 5 litres of petrol and a box of matches thank you ken In addition, I found that "90-100 PSI" RELLIS AND JOGS NEED 200 PSI 50 OF 200 IS NEEDED TO START. SOUNDS LIKE your in my boat now. If your bike mokes a lot consider your top end on the way out hit me up I can give you some Links depending on your budget. If you have 99+ there are a lot of performance options if you only have you have is Stock kits $57.00

What jets are you using? The same issue occured with my bad CARB I had to cover the small pin hole to start it, or blow air in the drain tube.

USA Standards & Wa dol tricked me? I found a carb-.- but I notice they are forcing me to downgrade from a 17.5mm intake to a 14mm intake at the carbuerator with 38mm bolt spacing.
The intake manifold port is approximately 19mm-20mm
Sounds like carb they just restricted me double time to 30 mph is what I have to deal with until I am able to go back to a 17.5mm racing carb anyway,
What jet sizing issues will I run into with a smaller new carb?
lf the old carb is approximately 17.5mm at the intake with 38mm bolt spacing #36-#100 jets would this mean I would have to do #80-85 main jet?
According to speed specifications for this year with 1987 PGO Star 50 42mph is the called speed this means I lose 6% off power subtracting actual intake size 20mm -14mm= 6mm 6% of 42mph= 2.52mph lossage 39.48mph from 42mph excluding filter type ratio. I also may have to shave the bolt holes a hair due to app calculations.
New calculations, If the 1987 PGO STAR 50 was rated for 65 mpg that means the 6% switches off adding 71MPG.
I think giving some power up for more MPG would be nice but I want 40mph exact which is my concern.
In order to affect the -2.52mph difference I would need to install a #80 - 85 main jet.
80 would be up to about up to 70 degrees - 90 degrees #85 would be 75 degrees and below temp.
Please feel free to add your 10 cents here.
