USA Standards & Wa dol tricked me? I found a carb-.- but I notice they are forcing me to downgrade from a 17.5mm intake to a 14mm intake at the carbuerator with 38mm bolt spacing.
The intake manifold port is approximately 19mm-20mm
Sounds like carb they just restricted me double time to 30 mph is what I have to deal with until I am able to go back to a 17.5mm racing carb anyway,
What jet sizing issues will I run into with a smaller new carb?
lf the old carb is approximately 17.5mm at the intake with 38mm bolt spacing #36-#100 jets would this mean I would have to do #80-85 main jet?
According to speed specifications for this year with 1987 PGO Star 50 42mph is the called speed this means I lose 6% off power subtracting actual intake size 20mm -14mm= 6mm 6% of 42mph= 2.52mph lossage 39.48mph from 42mph excluding filter type ratio. I also may have to shave the bolt holes a hair due to app calculations.
New calculations, If the 1987 PGO STAR 50 was rated for 65 mpg that means the 6% switches off adding 71MPG.
I think giving some power up for more MPG would be nice but I want 40mph exact which is my concern.
In order to affect the -2.52mph difference I would need to install a #80 - 85 main jet.
80 would be up to about up to 70 degrees - 90 degrees #85 would be 75 degrees and below temp.
Please feel free to add your 10 cents here.
