Can you take some pictures of the carb area, to see what kind of carb is on there. The Left side of the carb is the most important side that is where any adjustments would be . Alleyoop

Found this, plug that comes off the stator I think his stator fires the coil no cdi: With a Ohm Meter measure the resistance of the windings. The Gray & Brown wires are about 2 ohms. The Black & White wires measure at around 150 ohms. One set of wires are the genarator for the charging system and the other set are to fire the coil.

Always put BIG DIAMETER WASHERS under the bolt inside the trunk so it covers more of the plastic around the hole otherwise it will crack. I have had my Trunk on almost 5 years now and still going strong.

Bill and the Genie This is for my new best friend..
Bill Clinton was driving past the White House when he accidentally ran over the Obama’s new puppy, Sunny, crushing it flat as a fritter. He climbed out of his Rolls and sat down on the grass totally distraught. He knew Michele would go friggin' ballistic.
Then Bill noticed a lamp half-buried in the ground. He dug it up, brushed it off and immediately a Genie popped out. "You have freed me from thousands of years of imprisonment," said the Genie "As a reward I shall grant you one wish."
"Well," said Bill, "I have all the material things I need, but let me show you this damned dog."
They walk over to the splattered remains of Sunny. "Do you think you could bring this dog back to life for me?" Bill asked.
The Genie looked at the remains and shook his head. "This critter is too far gone for even me to bring it back to life. Maybe there's something else you'd like?"
Bill thought for a minute, reached into his pocket and pulled out two photos. "I had an affair with this beautiful young girl called Monica," said Bill, showing the genie the first photo. "But I’m actually married to this woman called Hillary" and he showed the genie the second photo.
"You see what Hillary looks like, so do you think you can make her look like Monica?"
The Genie studied the two photographs and after a few minutes said, "Damn, let's have another look at that dog!"

Your welcome, once you run it at wot we will know if some adjustment may be needed. But if it acts up just BACK OFF the throttle about 1/4 of a inch and HOLD IT THERE. THEN PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to what the motor does: 1. If it speeds up it is LEAN needs a little more fuel 2. If it sputters and or just settles down is it RICH to much fuel This way there is no guessing what the motor needs at that point it is a very accurate trick of the trade. Alleyoop

You are not explaining what is happening with the scoot. A 250 should be able to do 60+mph with no problems. So at Wide Open Throttle what happens does it the motor make any different sounds, like POPPING or BRAT sounds. If it has a tach what are the RPMS at wot. Alleyoop

I don't know 918 over a 871 is quite a bit of a change in length. 871mm= 34.29 inchs 918mm= 36.14 inchs
So If it takes a 871 a 918 would be to long of a belt. Alleyoop

HAHAHA, happens more so on gravity fed system if you happen to stop going up a hill going down no problem but going up no fuel to the carb.

The float can be ok, it is the angle of the slope which will cause the gas level to UNCOVER the jets and not able to suck fuel out. Alleyoop

If it is not held on with screws And it is a round sender you rotate it to free the prongs from the holder on the tank. Alleyoop
