At almost 6k miles on my 2011 Roketa (Honda clone engine, MC-54B-250), I'm starting to think it's time to acquire a backup drive belt. (OEM belt checked fine at around 4800, but dookey happens.)
JR's handy-dandy parts list post says it's the 828x22.5x30, but I can get all kinds of first numbers by googling around for 250cc scooters, Roketa, Helix, YY250T, GY6, etc -- all over the 800's and up into the low 900's. Further, when I had it at Scoot Over Tucson for some routine stuff, they said that my OEM belt has no numbers on it, but that the closest thing they had in stock, a 906x22.5x30, was TOO SMALL! I really do want to be prepared for the inevitable, but don't want to pay a bunch and find I have the wrong belt, and if I can avoid it I'd rather not have to tear into the CVT and remove the belt for actual measurement. Can anybody give me a bona fide, certified, written-in-stone "this is the one" answer? Is it possible that the Chinese could have used so many different belts on this ubiquitous scoot?
PS -- just did a search here and found at least a couple posts that said 918 is correct and 828 is way too small.

According to scrappydogscooters, the 828 is correct. But, according to absolutelyscooterparts .net, the 828 is only for 10 inch rear wheels. The 918 would be for the 13 inch wheel. My 257cc Linhai uses 856 and (rarely) 871, so you can rule those out.

Aw, JR, there ya go again, making me do work. CVT cover maybe OK, much worse if I have to pull variator or clutch covers. Wouldja think I might get a decent measurement by just pulling the CVT cover? (Darn them oriental people for making it this hard!!!!)

I have a Vog with the 257cc clone like the 250B and I have an 856. I've tried the 871 and did not like it - too big.

250B is the Linhai?? Makes me crazy -- thought I'd finally gotten that straight in my mind. Henceforth I shall refrain from any use of that way of identification and just call it a 2011 Roketa 244cc Honda clone. All of that, at least, I know to be true. And as I said, the local shop advised a 906x22.5x30 was too small, so I'm leaning toward the 918 but hoping to get the final word from someone here.

Yup--it is the 'B' that that indicates it is the Linhai--like this----Mc 54 250 B--Linhai--so yours ,the Honda clone---MC 54 250 --Honda---we went through this years back,in 2008 ,when nobody knew what it was--and finally old Earlwb on scootdawg did an extensive article on his scoot covering almost 10000 miles ,with mods and trunk changes, motor enhancements, with electric fuel pump, solar panel on the trunk to assist the battery ,many tips on changing tires, type of tires---oh yeh ,solar panel,he added one to his scoot, mounted it on the top of the trunk,or top box ,and took care of all the added enhancements ,like electric fuel pumps and electrical drag when the fan kicks in--old earlwb took the scooot apart and set the motor on the ground and showed pictures of every detail--I think those posts are still there ,probably on 'It is the Ride'--check it out ,if you can -I will see if I can find a link-fflintstone

From Earls write up and pictures it is a 871 belt Alleyoop Yup, on the Linhai variant. The Honda variant is evidently considerably larger, all evidence so far points to 918x22.5x30. If nobody chimes in with hard evidence to the contrary, guess that's what I'll get for a spare.

On the subject of needing a replacement, has anyone ever worn out a belt?I don't remember it being a problem, although it would seem to be a lot of possible wear and tear on such a belt ,but so far I don't remember anyone really having any trouble with a belt ---something else most likely will break or wear out long before a belt gives any trouble--just my opinion

I had over 10,000 miles on my Gates belt and it practically looked new. I got a generic no name belt ("Gold") and it didn't last 800 miles. The key is to get the good stuff like Gates.

I don't know 918 over a 871 is quite a bit of a change in length. 871mm= 34.29 inchs 918mm= 36.14 inchs
So If it takes a 871 a 918 would be to long of a belt. Alleyoop

Whoa, Alley, you missed the part where I have the Honda engine, not the Linhai. Got my variant designations backwards, but I'm definitely Honda, not Linhai. And as I also wrote, the scooter shop had a 906 belt in stock and said it was too small.
