Does anybody know the part number or size of a Gates Powerlink belt for the JCL MP-250A scooter? My manual says it's 22.6mm wide but give no other dimensions.
Thanks Ernie

I ordered a set of 8 12X20-12 Dr Pulley sliders for my JCL MP250A. I'm wondering if I must remove the big plastic wrap around and rocker panels to get to the variator. The video was somewhat helpful but us old folks need things spelled out sometimes. Thanks Ernie

I'll take anything above 45 degrees.

Has anyone tried a TKC-TM42 variator yet? I know they are pricey but I wonder if it lives up to all the claims of being the best variator available.

Does anybody know where I can get 3 or 4 Tinnerman U shaped nuts like the ones that hold the plastic onto our scooters? The internet wants to sell me 2,000 of them for $154.
Thanks Ernie

I have been worried since I got this MP250A that it was unnaturally loud. Like a wooden spoon banging in a coffee can.
Today I watched a video with sound of a guy on a scoot like mine and his sounded exactly the same as mine.
I guess these things are just noisy when you crank on the throttle. I am no longer concerned and I'm gonna have a ball waking the dead all over the place. ;D

While adjusting the two collars on the handlebars so that the brake levers are at the same angel, I noticed one of the bolts which I just put back in and tightened the other day was loose. Finger loose! And I hadn't ridden the scooter since then. It appears that if the collars aren't set in the correct position(the edge of the mirror mount isn't binding against the plastic) and you haven't torqued both upper and lower bolts equally, one will become loose as if by magic. It doesn't make any sense to me either but here's a heads up for what it's worth. Ernie

I don't know about compression but mine was leaking oil from the oil seal inside the water pump. Seal replaced, no more leak.
Squirt down the motor with simple green or a similar degreaser cleaner. Wipe it clean and observe where the oil seeps from after running it for a few days.
Torque down all major bolts, particularly near any visible leaks.

Are you telling me it's ok to use regular 87 octane gas?

What is it about these motors that requires we use premium 93 octane gas? It seems to me that they should run better on regular 87 octane gas without all the spark retardants.

Just for argument's sake, my rear latch is working but I couldn't tell you why.

Thank you very much. I must say that owning this scooter is much like when I had a Moto Guzzi motorcycle. The nearest dealer was 150 miles away and because of the Guzzi board, I was able to perform any maintenance needed. This board has been a life saver. I now know a lot more than I ever hoped for about Chinese motor scooters. My thanks to JR and to all the folks on this forum for tolerating my ignorance and providing the kind of education that makes owning a scooter fun. Ernie
