As I was sitting on the bike after changing the oil, pondering what the heck the thing is that fell out of the crankcase into the oil pan, I noticed a bolt missing from the right throttle/handbrake collar. You guessed it...a perfect match for the mystery bolt. Of course, this couldn't have happened before I tore the whole scooter apart! thppppppppppppppp!!!!!! Ernie

I drained the oil to check for metal filings and this dropped out... Anyone know what it is and where it belongs or broke off from? Attachments:

Can I use red high temp silicone gasket maker to make a header gasket for the exhaust or do I need to get asbestos or something?
Thanks Ernie

Richard
I had the exact same thing happen to me when I did my first valve adjustment. I found the little devil laying in the exhaust valve cover.
I made sure I tightened them next time and it runs too good for a lifter to be floating.
Thanks
Ernie

Mine has bolts with larger heads holding the radiator on and there are four of them. Assuming you are right JR, it seems like it would be damned difficult for that bolt to work its way all the way back along the belly pan before it could fall out. I can't see any way it could fall out the front around the radiator. I had the whole damned thing apart this morning and I didn't see another bolt like it in the whole scooter. Maybe it fell out of my car which parks in approximately the same spot sometimes. Ernie

What happens when you remove the three bolts on the back of the muffler around the hole?

It uses a 8mm wrench. I'm not up on metric sizes but I measured the threads diameter and bolt thread length. Looks like gas tank or foot rest brace. I had it out for a long ride today and since I arrived home safely, I'm not going to worry about it until I get the itch to play in plastic. Ernie

I found a M6 X 23mm bolt which it looks like it fell from the right side of the scooter. It looks like the bolts that hold on the valve covers but not shiny chrome, rather sort of olive drab color. I have been scouring the parts diagrams but I can't see where it came from.
One thing for sure is the loud rapping noise under accelleration is not the center stand.
Any ideas where this bold belongs?
