Now that's a sweet tip worth a couple of beers at least.
Thanks

Alley,
Thanks for the quick response. The scoots in the shed right now waiting for me to drag it out. Hopefully the next couple of weeks will get the job done. Everything seems straight forward.

When I'm hooking things back up. The crank shaft and camshaft will both be at TDC. Do I have to compensate for the chain tensioner? Like positioning the camshaft a little forward or a little back when I put on the chain. Engine cut out, spark good, fuel good, compression about 90. Even if its just the head gasket, everything still has to come off.
Thanks for any help.

Don't forget to torque the nut. I belive it should be tightened to about 100 ft/lbs.

Don't forget about balancing the tires. I have used the Dyna Beads and they worked great.
RP Bottom line: Balance the tires

Ron Have you ever done a Complete PDI on your scooter? You seem to have a good handle on your DIY skills.

Replaced the OEM 130/60-13 with a Michelin City Grip 140/60-13. The tire fit (as I expected), however, because the diameter is a ratio of the width, the tire along with being wider, is a little larger also. So the distance between the tire thread and the engine is less then the 130/60. Since this is not the first time this has been done, I'm assuming ( bad word there) the heat factor from the engine is negligible. (Damn the torpedo's). I have a 25 mile trip to work so I'll be stopping and checking the tires several times there and back. I put 2-oz of "Dyna Beads" in the new tire and a new air valve from "Kurvey Girl" (Recom from Cruiser). The nice thing about my test ride was that the scooter does not lean when I have to come to the "Stop and Go" type stops. Over all it's a nice ride. Like most things, time will tell. Probably the most important thing to remember is to "Balance Your Tires". That one thing alone can make a big difference in the way your scooter handles. "Dyna Beads" are an easy way to go. ($20.00 to $30.00) Making a smoother ride.

I have the 2008 Roketa MC-62 and just put the Michelin City Grip 140/60-13 on it this morning, along with a new air valve from "Kurvey Girl" (recom from Cruiser) and 2oz of "Dyna Beads" You have to keep your tires balanced. The tire has twice as many threads as the OEM and because its 10MM wider the scooter doesn't lean to either side if I come to a "Stop & Go" stop. The thing to remember is. What ever tire you decide on and/or if you have never done it before, "You Have To Balance Your Tires" This alone can make a big difference in the way your scooter handles. You can take your tires to a shop and get them balanced in the traditional way or you can go with the "Dyna Beads". Bottom line, it's gotta get done. Working to a smoother ride.

Thats what dosen't make sense. The tires and manual say 130/60-13. Yet the rim is stamped 13.5. My first thought is/was that the rim is a little large, but it still takes a 13" tire because thats whats on there. However, if theres a gremlin out there, I want to know about it before hand.
Thanks for the help.

I used the blue locktite and that seems to be holding. I got my MC-62 from Superior also and they changed the oil, A/F and (maybe) gear oil. No One (it has been said) No One - does a PDI like it should be done. Unless you want to pay extra for it. Many of us feel your "1st time buyer" frustration. If I ever get a 2nd one I will hopefully have everything under control before I crank it up. I just put some "Dyna Beads" in my tires ($20.00). It smoothed out the ride alot.
Continued good luck.

Called Motorcycle Superstore about a rear tire for my Roketa MC-62. Current tire is 130/60-13. When I told him my rim size 13.5, he said they didn't carry tires for Chinese bikes...
I'm going to E-mail the store for more details. It don,t make sense.

How about your gas. Don't use the low octane, Make sure your using 91- octane or more. I use Shell 93 in my Roketa MC-62. Just another tip. RP
