i don't think it's the R/R. I have 3 of them. But at this point i am so stumped i dunno anymore. but i did check continuity on the R/R's and they do only permit voltage one way just like a diod so i assume there gravy. I am good with electrical for the most part. wired up several car / home audio systems, and made a 89 in automotive electrical class. but this has broken my head for over a month now and i am sooo stubborn i have to fix everything myself so no way i paying diagnostic fees lol. so yeah thanx and ill have more info minyana =)

yes , 19*vac from the stator and i am almost positive i checked with and w/o the R/R and got the same reading. i am at work and can do more testing tomorrow and i will forsure theck the v from red wire. i wanna say i already cheched it and it was around 4 (ac/dc unknown off the top of my head) i will check voltage everywhere in diff situations (ie lights plugged in vs not and with R/R and w/o R/R. and also thank you so very much for your help and excusing my grammer. im typing these in between work calls lol and cant fix them

Bad wire???

sorry. i was working when i posted. they work with battery but not stator and the stator is making more than enough VAC. It is like the wire knows the diff between VAC and VDC and rejects the VAC. i noticed that when i test voltage where the stator wire (yellow) meets the harness , the voltage drops to nothing (05vac) unhookit and its right back to 19+VAC at the stator wire. I can take it right off the stator and to the battery and its good. i have tried 3 R/R's. That voltage is going somewhere. could it be escaping because it ac and goes where it pleases as apposed to dc only going 1 way?

Im sorry. what i meant was if it was a loose wire connecter they would go on/off when i hit bumps. but they don't.

Bad wire???

1st: 2006 sunL adventure 150cc
2nd: I had an ongoing head/dash/tail light issue for a month. finally got an 8 pole stator and had lights. Then.... 2 weeks later no lights.
3rd: I when i i check voltage i have 19+vac where the stator wire (yellow) hooks up to the harness. when i check it on the other end (right before the R/R) I have .5VAC. so i figured bad wire. so I took the wire (harness side) off the stator and to the 12v battery. lights!!! so the wire can take 12vdc from 1 end to the other. but not 19vac. hmmmm
4th: i decided i need to solder the connection (was twisted and taped) i turn on the bike and i have lights off the stator wire. Case closed. Not.. 1 block down the road no lights again. hook to the battery and they are on. re-solder to stator and nothing. I have never heard of a wire half working. i thought maybe it a position thing and it just happen to be in the right position when it was connected to the battery but no because the the lights would flicker on and off as i hit bumps and jiggled the wires. anyways i am gonna run a new wire but wanted to see what yall thought. thanx in advance

thanx. I really am heart set on the bike. I also was heart set that the new stator was gonna work. I think the seller replaced an 8 pole with a six but stille the flywheel size issue doesn't make since. anywho, thanx again and glad to be here.

2 things... the voltage testing off the stator was the same on both stators and the stator isgrounded to the engine where the fan cover attatches. it was like that when i bought it. Is that right. the guy that soldit to me said he replaced the stator. maybe he screwed up?

The story: Bought 1st scooter for 650. got it home and the head light tail lights (light up when bake applied but not full time) the seller gave me 150 back. its my first bike and i love and want to keep it. The bike: 06 SunL adventure 150cc 212 miles when bought 2 weeks ago now 315 brand new light bulbs all the way around brand new carb original R/R plus 2 ordered online (heard some come bad) Brand new 6 pole stator. What the lights are doing: Blinkers/horn work fine When I give the bike 50% throttle the head/tail lights light up but only about 20% (that includes head and tail lights) I (through the advise of forum members on another site) was told it was the R/R. replaced and no luck. Then I got me MM and tested volts. I have about 14vac off the white wire and 4vac off the yellow wire right off the stator. (goes up with rpm but not much) I ran hthe lights off the battery with a 10amp fuse and the light up bright!!! (head and tail) This is before I replaced the stator) I road for about 15 miles then the battery died (i was so upset.. had to leave her on the side of the road all night) What I know: I know that I am running out of cash. I know that the 8 and 11 pole stators the local scoot shop had did not fit inside my flywheel and that if I get a stator with more poles (assuming 6 isnt enough and thats my issue) It wheel need a bigger flywheel which makes me think the screw holes for the magneto wouldnt line up anymore yet all the sites say they WILL fit. I know that the local scoot shop with diagnose for 65 an hour and they r $$$ hungry and rude as hell. I know that I am at my wits end. I have never come across something I couldnt fix. (tvs cars a/c's pc's gopeds, sheet rock you get the point) I am a student no parents full time job and have takin automotive electronics 1 and 2 and am pretty smart. I have met my match lol. What do you think. I was referred here by the guys at scoot dog. Thanx in advance....
